Cracking the books can be hard enough, but it can be even more difficult when you try to do it at home. Especially for online learners that are typically trying to balance between family, job, and running a household. When you study at home you are often at the beckon call of your kids, spouse, and other responsibilities.

And let’s face it, when you are at home you have access to all of your creature comforts such as television, movies, internet, and the list goes on and on. At home it is so easy to do something else other than study. And even if you do decide to hit the books you are usually interrupted.

Below we take a look at some great places to study. Sometimes a change of scenery can do wonders for your focus and motivation. When not studying at home, consider these other locations.

1. Local Coffee Shop

This has long been the hangout for college kids and adults. Most coffee shops encourage you to hang out and sip on a cup of coffee. They often have free wifi and plenty of counter space for your books. Be careful if you are at your local Starbucks though. They just recently enacted a policy inhibiting people from “hanging out” for more than five hours. If you like to people watch then choose a corner where you can focus on your books rather than people.

2. The Park

When the weather is nice there is no better place to study than outdoors sitting on your favorite blanket. Studying at the park is a great way to learn while enjoying some fresh air. Bring a picnic basket along with you and take a study break.

3. Friend’s House

Some people enjoy studying with a partner. Studies even prove that many people learn more when they are with a study partner. Also, when you study with someone else you can keep each other motivated and on track. Studying with a study buddy is not nearly as boring either. The two of you can flesh through the content together and have some great discussions, which are proven to deepen understanding of subject matter.

4. Restaurant

Restaurants provide a great change of location. You can find a secluded booth and also get something to eat to recharge. You have ample room, privacy, food, and beverages! What else do you need?!

5. Library

The public library is a great option for studying. You have access to thousands of books, free internet, and most of the time free wifi. Libraries are also easy to concentrate in because they are quite. You can find a secluded area to spread out and get down to business.
