Patient Care Technician
A 600 clock hour program that is divided into 320 hours of didactic instruction and 280 hours of clinical/laboratory training. The program is designed to provide students with skills that can be used throughout the health care industry. It stresses understanding of and demonstration of planning, management, technical skills, and principles of technology, labor issues, as well as community health, safety, and environmental issues. The program consists of two (2) courses of ten (10) weeks each corresponding to successive levels of training. The classes are taught utilizing textbooks, lecture sessions, videos, lab practice and practical experience in acute care and long term care facilities. Each sequence of instruction will coincide with clinical experience in an area facility under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Upon successful completion of Americare's 20 week Patient Care Technician Program, graduates are eligible to take the Florida State Nursing Assistant certification exmination which is the required certification for Patient Care Technicians.
