Massage Therapy

The benefits of massage therapy and its ability to improve people's health and well-being are widely known. Once regarded as a pampering activity, massage therapy is now part of formal treatment regimens for controlling pain, reducing stress, improving circulation, and inducing relaxation.

NC's Massage Therapy Certificate program provides students with a well-rounded massage therapy education that is both innovative and practical.

PROGRAM GOALS

Northwestern College's Massage Therapy Certificate program is designed to prepare students to begin and sustain a successful, long-term career as a massage therapist. Upon completion of the program, students will:

  • Demonstrate knowledge in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pathology, and kinesiology

  • Understand, assess, and recommend massage therapy treatments

  • Execute therapeutic massage sessions

  • Actively participate in a health care team

  • Be adequately prepared to become licensed as a massage therapist in the state of Illinois

People are recognizing the benefits of holistic treatments, like massage therapy, more than ever before. As a result, employment opportunities for massage therapists continue to expand. It's common to find massage therapists working in the following settings:
