Are there any schools that you have heard so many things about that you would never even consider going there? For me it's University of Phoenix now that I've heard more stories about it.

I tend to avoid basing any decision on the experience of a few individuals and tend to do research heavily to gain information from a larger sample. Based on this there are a few schools I wouldn't consider, but as a general rule I would say avoid any "for-profit" school unless you truly have no other choice.

I think it is a good idea to avoid any school that is a for-profit school, as Mikai said. I think it's a good idea to avoid schools in areas you know you won't want to live. For example, I would avoid schools where there are a lot of bad storms in the winter.

I avoid some of the technical colleges around here. Not the community ones, but the technical ones. Some of their medical programs have had their programs shut down because they couldn't do what it takes to get accredited. I would hate to go to school to find out I couldn't get a job.

Man, I would be so angry if I started going to a school and realized it wasn't accredited. I've heard of that happening with a lot of technical schools. I think it might be a wise choice to avoid technical schools.

Do people still attend schools that are not accredited? How does that happen? It's horrible that some of the schools can really get people to keep going even if they know they aren't going to be able to provide a proper degree.
