Do most colleges award credit for Advanced Placement courses or for college courses that I took in high school? This maybe a no brainer, but I am not sure and would like to know.

You can take a CLEP test for a certain subject. CLEP stands for College Level Examination Program. They're basically equivalency tests. I don't think it matters whether you gained the knowledge through a formal course, life experience, or studying it on your own.

In my experience, most colleges do accept Advanced Placement credit as college credit. Every school does it differently, though. Like one school may give a semester credit for a 4 in English AP, whereas another school may give two semesters of credit. You can call the school you are interested in attending to find out what AP credits they accept.

Colleges do accept Advanced Placement High School Courses as College Credits. Like gogogadget thought, I do not know how they figure the hours. Call or check online to see how it transfers.

I didn't know they accepted AP classes as college credit! Dang, that means I could have covered an English credit without having to take another class. Ugh.

You should be aware that just taking the AP class doesn't get you credits anywhere, pretty much. You have to actually take the test at the end of the year. Most colleges require you get a 4 or 5, some will allow you to have a 3 to get credit.
