When I was a kid it was my dream to go to Stanford in California. I actually ended up not applying because I knew I wouldn't get in. Still, I wish that I could have got my grades up and had more of a part in social groups. I might have had a better shot. Anyway, I really wanted to go there so I could study creative writing.

Stanford is a little too rich for my blood. Isn't is expensive like Yale and Harvard? I really don't care about 'status', just as long I can get the job and degree I want from a reputable college. But you know, everyone has their dreams, and to each their own.

I wanted to go to an expensive school, too, but I knew I didn't have the grades (or the money) to make it. Sometimes you just have to accept the choices you've made and move on, though, you know?

I had the grades just not the finances. I might make it to Notre Dame someday for a graduate degree but not right now unfortunately.

Why not work hard at it and try for a graduate degree? It's expensive and yes, part of it is about status, but it also has a great reputation as far as academics. If it's your dream you can always still pursue it.
