 Post subject: Calculus and an MBA?

I have see a number of universities require calculus as a pre-req for an MBA. Personally, I think that such a requirement is overkill and would not attend such a school. What is everyone else's opinion?

I had to take Calc in college at the bachelor level. I thought it was crazy! I had to take it prior to taking Statistics and some high level finance courses.

not every course you take in college is going to be directly related to your area of study
it is just the way things work

That is so true that some courses may not have anything to do with your degree.

I was a music major

...I had to take Astronomy, Chemistry, Trigonometry, more...

no, I am not sorry I took these courses, it's just that they have very little in common with Music, on the surface level

in fact, there is A LOT in common, but not on the surface

My primary concern with many of these electives centers on the notion that the schools may be purposely dragging the education out in order to make extra tuition dollars.

that is a possibility for sure
also, the term university implies a universal education
