My auntie was encouraging his son to study IT but after a week, he came back saying that he'd heard professionals in this field are introverts in nature.

Is there some truth in this?

Possibly, but that's not a bad thing nor does it mean that an extrovert can't do the job. I think it makes sense since many who work in IT work alone more often than in some other fields. I don't think it really means much of anything though.

I don't know if they are mostly introverts, or if it is just that a lot of them are socially awkward. There is a high incidence of disorders like Asperger's Syndrome among computer professionals. That can be mistaken for introversion.

From my experience, associating introverts and IT people isn't really an accurate generalization. Some of the IT professionals whom I've encountered talk a blue streak. However, I would think that the IT field would appeal more to people who enjoy working with things as opposed to people.

I don't think so as I know several IT professionals personally who are quite extroverted. I do think that people who like to work alone tend to work in IT but I don't think that it is correct to say that IT professionals are introverts.

I would have to agree with you on this. In a way, most IT professionals are socially awkward. I had a friend working in this field once comment that his girlfriend kept on complaining that he was so much into his career.

I do not know if the same can be merged with being an introvert?
