Why aren't doctors taught more about nutrition when they are in med school? I've heard that most doctors have one class on it, at most. It seems like something so critical to health would be covered extensively in doctors' training.

I have often wondered that myself. Processed foods are killing us as a nation. If doctors would dwell more on natural foods rather than prescriptions, I believe we would all be better off.

Doctors probably do not learn more about nutrition, because they have so much other stuff to go over. Nutrition is seen, as more of a dietitians course of study. I do wish doctors studied more on nutrition, though, because I think a lot of problems can be avoided/cured by food.

It is because doctors are about science and how to fix our bodies using science, not diet. Nutritionists and holistic healers focus more on diet to heal the body.

I think that's why they have developed degrees for nutritionists to handle counseling of clients. My roommate is a nutritionist for a military hospital and I love talking and learning from her.
