Inspiring People to Inspire YOU!

The life of a college student can get pretty tough. When things get difficult and you feel like giving up or giving in, it’s nice to read about people who have achieved great things despite insurmountable odds. Let’s take a look at some inspiring people who have achieved the impossible.

Nick Vujicic

Nick is an Australian who was born with a rare disorder that left him without limbs from birth. Nick says he spent much of his life feeling sorry for himself and endured ridicule from his peers. One day he met a Christian minister who changed his life. Now Nick travels the world helping inspire people. He ended up graduating from college with a double major in Accounting and Finance by the age of 21. He also surfs, plays golf, and enjoys soccer.

Nando Parrado

Nando survived a horrific plane crash and then endured 72 days stuck in the Andes Mountains. About nine days after the crash the group decided that if anyone died they had permission to use a corpse as food. After two months of surviving and with the search called off, Nando and three others trekked through the wilderness half-dead and freezing to find help. They were rescued by a farmer. Nando led rescuers back to find the others. He now goes around the world as a motivational speaker.

Jessica Cox

Jessica was born with a rare birth defect leaving her without arms. Despite this tremendous obstacle she graduated from college, can drive, write, and type. She also became the first pilot with no arms to earn a pilot’s license. This Arizona native also holds a black belt in Tai Kwon-Do. Jessica travels the country sharing her life story and accomplishments as a way to inspire others.

Liz Murray

Liz Murray grew up with drug-addicted parents who both eventually died as a result of their addiction. Liz’s parents split up and she ended up living in a homeless shelter with her father who was addicted to drugs. Despite being born into such dire circumstances Liz was able to matriculate to Harvard University. She eventually graduated from the prestigious Ivy League school and now owns and operates her own company. She has also written a best-selling book about her life. Her story was also made into a movie titled “From Homeless to Harvard.”

These impressive individuals highlight the fact that we can overcome insurmountable odds and achieve our dreams. We hope these people’s lives inspired you to reach higher and go further than you thought you could.
