Despite its relatively new emergence as an academic field of study, an impressive 59,488 bachelor of computer science degrees were awarded in the 2004 – 2005 academic year, according to the U.S. Department of Education. Some answers would take hours or even days to complete.

The use of personal computers, as known today, exploded in the 1990′s and continues to rapidly develop in technology and speed.
Computer Science and the Development of the Internet
J.C.R. Licklider, a prominent professional who fashioned an extraordinary career in computer science, is often named as the forerunner of the Internet. It was his idea to develop online computer science technology by linking three major computer terminals within the U.S. Department of Defense’s DARPA information processing office. The linking of the three terminals, along with the spread of the network to the rest of the world, eventually formed the modern Internet of the 1980′s. The Internet is a major component in many people’s lives today, and computer science is the foundation upon which the Internet operates.
The Current Study of Computer Science
Professionals who have earned, at least, bachelor degree computer science credentials continue to study the field of computer science and contribute new technology to society. Some students are now choosing to take advantage of computer science contributions, like the Internet, and attend computer science schools online.
