As opposed to general administrative assistants, medical administrative assistants who work in the health care environment are expected to experience promising job growth through the year 2014. Health care administration degree graduates are often required to know a variety of specialized skills and terminology that make their services invaluable to physicians and hospital administrators. Those who earn an associate of arts in health administration degree are in an opportune position to market their skills as the health care industry continues to expand.

What does a Medical Administrative Assistant Do?

Medical administrative assistants work for physicians, medical scientists, and hospital administrators or CEO’s to help with a variety of tasks. Graduates with a health care administration degree may assist in the creation of reports, speeches, and articles. Additional duties may include helping to prepare for conferences and transcribing physicians’ dictations of medical notes. Some medical administrative assistants also take basic medical histories and admit patients to the hospital.

Required Education to Work as an Administrative Assistant in Health Care: Value of an Associate of Arts in Health Care Administration

Due to the specialized nature of health care, medical administrative assistants must be knowledgeable in medical terminology and regulatory and ethical issues that affect the health care industry. Some entry-level positions may be obtained with a high school diploma and on-the-job or online health care training. However, employers most often prefer to hire workers with an associate of arts in health care administration degree for their specialized training and critical thinking skills.

Students in the University of Phoenix Online health associate degree program receive:

Training in information technology

Training in financial management

Training in regulatory and ethical issues in the health care environment

Training in public policy

Specialized training can qualify graduates for more advanced and better paying positions. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, workers with an associate’s degree earn an average of $128 more every week compared to workers with only a high school diploma.

According to the Department of Labor, health care is one of the largest and most financially rewarding career fields for professionals who have earned a campus-based health associate degree or an online health associate degree. Employers actually prefer to hire workers with an associate health care administration degree, due to the specific, focused training graduates receive before entering the workforce. An associate health administration degree can train students to enter the health care industry as a medical records technician, one of the fastest-growing occupations through the year 2014.

What is a Medical Records Technician?

A graduate of an online health associate degree program who chooses to work as a medical records technician checks patient records for accuracy and completeness. Every time a patient has contact with a health care professional, undergoes surgery or diagnostic procedures, or reports symptoms of illness, the experience is documented in a medical record. The medical records technician reviews the information and regularly communicates with physicians and other health care professionals to obtain missing information and needed clarifications. It is the responsibility of the medical records technician to ensure all forms are completed correctly and signed by the appropriate personnel.

Required Education to Work as a Medical Records Technician

An online health associate degree in health administration or a related discipline is typically required to work as a medical records technician. Campus or online health care training in areas such as medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, legal issues in health information, and computer science are usually included in an associate health care degree. Many health college programs are now offering health care degree online programs. For example, the University of Phoenix offers an Associate of Arts in Health Administration that has been designed specifically for working professionals.

Some employers may require online health associate degree graduates to become certified as Registered Health Information Technicians. In order to sit for the examination for certification, workers must have attended a campus or online health associate degree program that has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). As of 2005, 184 associate health administration degree programs were accredited by CAHIIM.

Employment Outlook for Medical Records Technicians

Online health associate degree graduates who work as medical records technicians are expected to experience a 27% or more increase in new jobs through the year 2014. Federal legislation now mandates the use of electronic medical records. Medical records technicians will be needed to input patient data into computers and assist in the conversion from paper to electronic charting in many facilities. The skills of medical records technicians will also become invaluable as medical records are increasingly analyzed by insurance companies, courts, and health care regulating bodies.

The most recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed healthcare as the largest industry in the U.S. The healthcare industry employed over 13. million workers in 2004 and currently includes 8 of the 20 occupations that are expected to experience the fastest growth through the year 2014. Students wishing to pursue an associate of arts have plenty of reasons to consider choosing a program that leads to a health administration degree.

What is Health Administration?

The field of health administration is made up of health and human services workers. A health care management degree provides training in information technology, financial management, regulatory and ethical issues in the health care environment, and public policy. A health care administration degree also teaches the values and terminology associated with the health care industry. By the end of a health college program, graduates develop excellent communication skills and are equipped to work in a variety of occupations within the field of health and human services.

Benefits of an Associate’s Degree

Most of the occupations within health care actually require less than a 4-year degree. Although some occupations may require more extensive training, attaining an administrative health care degree online, or through some other means, can boost a worker’s resume to the top of the application pile. In fact, many employers actually prefer to hire workers with an associate’s degree, according to a recent article in the Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Quarterly.

An associate of arts health administration degree can also enhance a student’s chances of being accepted into a health administration bachelor’s program. The U.S. Department of Labor found that a student with an associate’s degree is more likely to finish a bachelor’s degree program than a student who has merely taken a few college courses that did not lead to a degree. An administrative health care degree at the associate’s level prepares a student for lifelong learning and more effective academic competition.

Job Outlook for Health and Human Services Workers

Predicted job growth for various occupations within the health and human services industry vary. However, the general occupation of health services manager is projected to experience a 26. % increase in job openings through the year 2014. The health care industry as a whole is expected to provide approximately 3. million new jobs to the U.S. economy between 2004 and 2014. High turnover in the health care industry and the aging of the U.S. population are driving forces behind the continued expansion of the field.

Many students are now choosing to enroll in online health care training through programs such as the Associate of Arts in Health Administration at the University of Phoenix. Many online health associate degree programs in health administration are designed specifically for the working professional who wishes to maintain a salary and benefits throughout the course of the online health degree training period. The Associate of Arts in Health Administration at the University of Phoenix also prepares students to streamline into the Bachelor of Science in Health Administration program. Students interested in more information may visit College-Pages.com, the education and career resource website with an extensive list of available programs and additional educational resources.

Most of the respected and established online colleges have four or five areas of study in which they concentrate their degree programs. Often one of those areas is health care. Some stick to business oriented majors and others to technology subjects. But the larger ones with the academic resources to make it work will maintain several fields of study. Some of the traditional colleges have developed online programs but those are usually limited in scope compared to the university’s full curriculum and usually not oriented to the sciences.

Some of the online colleges will also offer certification programs in specific professional areas. There are online schools that offer very few full college degrees, but provide extensive programs of study designed to lead to certification in specified skill sets. Some of these are in the health care field.

Colorado Technical University Online offers bachelor’s degree in business administration specializing in health care management. They also have an MBA program with specialization in health care management. American InterContinental University (AIU) also has a bachelor’s degree in health care management. The same is true of Kaplan University, an online college that also offers a degree in nursing with a track to RN certification as well.

The largest online educational institution, University of Phoenix Online, has a comprehensive array of health care degrees from bachelor’s to doctorate. Below are their degree offerings:

Bachelor of Science/Health Administration Bachelor of Science in Nursing Master of Business Administration/Health Care Management Master of Health Administration Master of Science in Nursing Master of Science in Nursing – Nursing/Health Care Education Master of Science in Nursing/Integrative Health Care Master of Science in Nursing/Master of Business Administration/Health Care Management Master of Science in Nursing/Master of Health Administration Doctor of Health Administration

Like some of the other online colleges, in recognition of the competitive business environment that has overtaken health care University of Phoenix has an MBA program with an emphasis on health care management. They also have two double master’s programs that would be tickets to real opportunity in the health care management field: the two nursing degrees, one matched up with a master’s in health administration and the other with an MBA.

Certification is another form of collegiate degree that can provide entry into the health care field at a lower level. With some experience at the entry level, many professionals return to an online college to obtain a higher degree in order to move up the management ladder. Here are some examples of online certification opportunities:

Business Applications Specialist / Medical Office Assistant

Hospital Patient Registration Specialist

Massage Therapy

Medical Administrative Assistant

Medical Laboratory Assistant

Medical Office Administrator

Medical Office Assistant

Medical Office Assistant Certificate

Nursing Assistant

Pharmacy Technician

You can break into the health care field at virtually any educational level via an online degree. Your real challenge will be selecting the health care field that holds the most appeal for you and where there is likely to be opportunity. Online health care study allows you to work while you learn, and learn at your own pace. Online degrees are designed to require less time than traditional degrees and move you into the job market as efficiently as possible.

The American College of Healthcare Executives is a large trade organization for professionals in the health care management field. ACHE has thirty thousand members and hosts an annual trade meeting for its members. It is also known for providing continuing education and training for its members, as well as two trade journals and a magazine. The organization has a publishing division, the Health Administration Press, which is one of the larger specialty publishers of books and journals on health care management, as well as textbooks for academic programs for healthcare administration.

Membership in the organization will provide you with access to ACHE’s job bank as well as their computerized resume file. They also have a group health insurance program that is available to members. You do not need to be a working healthcare administrator in order to join ACHE. All that is required for full membership is that you hold a bachelor’s degree of some sort and have “a commitment to the profession of healthcare management.” That appears to mean you are interested in working in the profession; dues are $150 per year. For individuals who are enrolled in a college-level health administration or related program there is a reduced fee structure.

In virtually every state, healthcare administrators have some sort of licensure or certification requirement that includes a renewal process, often on an annual basis. In addition, there is a federal licensure and exam process for most positions in the industry. There is usually a continuing education requirement included in the recertification or re-licensure process. ACHE provides a large number of online education programs that will meet those continuing education requirements.

There are also health care certification courses provided online through the ACHE website. Online seminars and self-study courses can earn you credits towards certification that is provided by ACHE and may help you in meeting certification requirements found in public jurisdictions. Thirty one courses are available. Examples of self-study topics include “Managed Care Contracting” and “Creating a High Retention Nursing Culture”.

In addition to the job bank and resume bank, ACHE provides a number of resources to assist in career orientation. If you are just beginning to consider a career in the field, ACHE maintains a website with introductory information on the industry and the employment opportunities within it at http://www.healthmanagementcareers.org. They make resume software available and will critique your resume if you wish.

Their publishing house has a series of books on career development and leadership issues. They issue an industry intelligence report from time to time that is single issue oriented (example: “Mentoring Mechanics”), but gathers information on the topic from a wide array of resources.

Their “Career Guides” section includes articles on a range of topics. Examples from this section include “Finding a Compatible Corporate Culture” and, from the Personal Marketing area, “How to Write a Winning Resume” along with “The Job Search and the Unsolicited Phone Call”.

The American College of Health Administrators provides a thorough range of services to practicing professionals and those who are interested in joining the ranks of healthcare managers. Their publications, on site and online seminars and placement databases all are the earmarks of a lively, active trade organization. It can be a good fit for someone who is thoroughly vested in pursuing a healthcare administration career.

There is more to the study of nursing today than obtaining certification as an RN. And there are a number of degrees in health care that are options for people interested in entering the health care field. At the entry level and lower management level, you can take a relatively short course of study and receive certification as a medical assistant, a nurse’s assistant or any number of other support roles in the health care field.

At the college level you can find all degree options in one health care profession or another. The best snapshot of industry-wide options comes from a look through the distance learning programs for health care positions. Because online education is job-focused, it is a quick study on the careers that are out there in nursing and other health care professions.

University of Phoenix Online provides a comprehensive program of nursing studies. Some of their nursing degrees incorporate health care administration as well. Their health care master’s programs include two MBA degrees with health care specialization; one of them is a dual master’s degree, combining the MBA with a master’s in nursing. Here is a list of their degrees in health care and nursing:

Bachelor of Science/Health Administration Bachelor of Science in Nursing Master of Business Administration/Health Care Management Master of Health Administration Master of Science in Nursing Master of Science in Nursing – Nursing/Health Care Education Master of Science in Nursing/Integrative Health Care Master of Science in Nursing/Master of Business Administration/Health Care Management Master of Science in Nursing/Master of Health Administration Doctor of Health Administration

University of Phoenix Online has expanded study in the nursing profession to include a number of areas that are vital in today’s managed health care environment. Their nursing program and their health administration academics are state of the art.

Kaplan University has kept their online health care options to the basics. They offer a bachelor’s degree in health care management. They also have an RN program with a bachelor’s in science at completion.

Colorado Technical University has an online MBA program with emphasis in health care management. They also offer a bachelor’s in science with specialization in health care management. If you are within range of one of their six campuses, you can obtain a bachelor’s in nursing and health care associate’s degrees in the following specializations:

Health Care Information Technology Massage Therapy Medical Assisting Radiologic Technology Surgical Technology

Jones International University has an MBA program that specializes in health care management. Their curriculum includes courses in telemedicine and emerging technologies; marketing health services; e-marketing management; and in information technology management. This sampling of classes indicates to what degree Jones International University sees the health care management business relying on the internet not only for business functions but for medical purposes as well.

Online courses to complete earlier college efforts can lead you to a degree in nursing or a degree with any number of health care administration specializations. One of the values of online academics is that the courses and degree programs are designed for efficient completion. Academically, you can be where you want to be much faster than you might think.

Health care is the largest industry in the country, providing close to fifteen million jobs. It is an industry that will continue to grow as our population grows both larger and older. Among the universe of health care workers, management and pure administrative personnel are a relatively small segment. That ratio is going to change somewhat, as more health care in this country becomes public health care due to the rising cost of health insurance and the reduction of employee benefits in American business.

Nevertheless, the pure administrative positions in health care comprise less than ten percent of the total jobs in the field. There are some interesting trends emerging in the private sector that indicate the need for administrative personnel in the field is rising, and will continue to do so.

Because of the reluctance of insurance companies to pay for hospitalization, outpatient care has become more predominant. So, while health care providers are struggling to keep their hospital beds full, at the same time they are diversifying their facilities. Hospitals are laying off mid-level management personnel as outlying clinics are opening their doors and hiring managers. From a U.S. Labor Department report on health care employment:In some management, business, and financial operations occupations, rapid growth will be tempered by restructuring to reduce administrative costs and streamline operations. Office automation and other technological changes will slow employment growth in office and administrative support occupations; but because the employment base is large, replacement needs will continue…In many cases, it may be easier for jobseekers with health-specific training to obtain jobs and advance…Specialized clinical training is a requirement for many jobs in health care and is an asset even for many administrative jobs that do not specifically require it.

All of this suggests that a master’s degree in health care administration will have notable employment value. It suggests further that people who have had some specific medical background prior to pursuing a management role will be in sharp demand. That suggests that if you’re in the service or technical end of the medical industry, a return to school might be well worth considering.

If you’re working, online colleges are the best way to go about pursuing that master’s. Previous college credits should transfer into a non-science oriented business major such as health administration. Even without previous credits, it won’t take nearly as long as you might think.

University of Phoenix Online has the perfect degree to match up with that last projection from the Labor Department. They have two master’s degrees with double majors: one is an MBA with a master’s in nursing, and the other combines a master’s in nursing with a master’s in health administration. University of Phoenix Online also offers a master’s in health care administration and an MBA with emphasis on health care administration.

Capella University offers a master’s in health care administration. Kennedy- Western University has a master’s program in health care administration that does not overlook the competitive side of the health care business: among their areas of study are managed care, marketing, policy analysis, quality management and advanced financial systemic processes. These management degrees approach health care as the business it has become.

Online colleges show in their academic program designs that they are very much aware of the evolving health care marketplace. As managed health care has evolved, large bureaucracies have appeared in the form of HMOs and large health care provider groups which require people with business management skills. There is also general recognition of the changing requirements in the marketplace.

Management positions where a bachelor’s degree in health care once sufficed now require a master’s in health care. In similar fashion, mid- management positions such as medical office management are often filled by people with bachelor’s degrees when an associate’s degree in health care fit the bill not long ago. Online schools stay on top of these trends and many of them have counseling services that can help you define what the educational needs are for the job you are seeking.

Because of the changing job market, there are a large number of professionals in the health care industry who are going back to school. These are individuals who wish to move up the management ladder and need the degree to carry along with them. Most of these people have some college education behind them. It is in the online colleges that this sort of mid-career adjustment is accomplished most easily because the schools are geared for it.

The goal of the online college is to get you positioned where you want to be in the job market or the professional ranks as efficiently and quickly as possible. A master’s degree obtained through an online college will be completed much quicker than it would on campus and can be done during the hours of your choice. Online schools are also experts in the field of transferring college credits, in order to minimize the requirements for repetition of core courses taken long ago.

The most comprehensive online master’s program in health care administration might be at University of Phoenix Online. Their degrees are designed to incorporate both business essentials and modern medical trends into their courses of study. Below are University of Phoenix Online’s master’s degrees in health care management:

Master of Business Administration/Health Care Management

Master of Health Administration

Master of Science in Nursing

Master of Science in Nursing – Nursing/Health Care Education

Master of Science in Nursing/Integrative Health Care

Master of Science in Nursing/Master of Business Administration/Health Care Management

Master of Science in Nursing/Master of Health Administration

You can see the mix of medical and administrative skills woven into some of these degree programs. Mixing medical training and management skills is going to be a vital part of future management roles in health care, according to the U.S. epartment of Labor.

Other online colleges also offer excellent curricula in health care management. Capella University has a master’s degree in health care management available online. Kennedy- Western University offers both a master’s and a doctorate in health administration. Specific areas for their master’s degree include managed care, marketing, policy analysis, quality management and advanced financial management systemic processes. In the business of managed care, a master’s in health care administration will move you into a rapidly growing job segment in a rapidly changing field.

Universities that have teaching hospitals are typically connected with nursing school and medical schools. The variety of other disciplines in the health care field do not require six years of study or a degree from a university. Online colleges as well as traditional colleges and universities have been the means through which medical technicians and other support staff, and non-medical administrative professionals have started their careers.

Trade schools and specialty institutions provide certification for individuals who are interested in careers as dental technicians, x-ray technicians, and nursing assistants. There are many courses of study available through online schools and traditional colleges for those interested in health management positions.

Health administration degrees at any post-secondary level are available through the University of Phoenix Online. There is a comprehensive list of professional opportunities provided by their online program. Phoenix offers several different nursing degrees, including Health Care Education, Integrative Health Care, Health Care Management and a dual Master’s degree in Nursing and Business Administration. They also provide a curriculum for a doctorate in Health Administration and nurse practitioner program.

Quite a few health care career options are covered by Colorado Technical University’s programs, and a majority of them are available online. The degree programs that they offer include Health Information Technology, Health care Administration, Massage Therapy, Medical Assistant, Nursing, Practical Nursing, Radiography and Surgical Technology.

Westwood College offers online degree programs in some levels of health care management, medical insurance coding and billing, and other degrees in medical assisting.

Another online college is CDI College that offers specialized programs that prepare students for the medical support field. Programs at CDI College include training for two types of medical office staff jobs, medical laboratory assistants, medical assistants and massage therapists. Certification for several different positions like orthopedic assistants, occupational therapy, childcare assistants. This school also offers nine different classifications of dental office worker programs online.

Cappella University offers about twenty degree programs in psychology, counseling, health related social work, and health care administration. Their programs concentrate on therapy and counseling. They even have a curriculum for family therapy and marriage counseling, as well as school and sports psychology.

It is obvious that trade schools and online colleges have many programs with narrow focuses. There is health care training at every type of institution, and a good number of them are available through online programs. A broad number of specialties and associate’s bachelor’s, master’s and even doctorate degrees are available online and on campuses.

Health Care administration degrees typically begin at the bachelor’s level, since they are geared to prepare students for management positions. Even so, there are still master’s and doctorate degrees in health care administration as well. Individuals who are currently working in the health care industry might consider enrolling in an online college to take advantage of the higher degree programs, as this would help them to climb the professional ladder in the health care field.

Bachelor’s, master’s and PhDs in health care administration are all offered at the University of Phoenix. Some of the undergraduate courses available in health care are organizational behavior, operations management in health care, health care quality management and outcomes analysis, and application of health care management principles. These classes provide the basic knowledge that is needed for a health care management position, and there are several others offered at the University of Phoenix.

A master’s degree program would build upon the basics learned in undergraduate study. An individual pursuing a master’s in health administration might encounter such classes as leadership and organizational management, concepts of population health, health care economics, and marketing for health care. Students are provided with management tools and dilemma analysis skills to prepare them for running a health care facility.

The University of Phoenix Online offers a PhD program that focuses on the overall perspective of health care on a high level. The courses encourage sophisticated analytical skills. The PhD in health care administration includes the following courses: policy and regulation in healthcare, executive information systems, population health and epidemiology, and the globalization of healthcare. A doctoral thesis is also required for completion of the program. Some areas of the doctoral training cover issues related to public health care, which is a growing area in need of quality professionals.

Each of these degree programs are clearly fashioned for specific levels of health care management. Several other online educational institutions provide thorough programs in health care administration as well. Some online colleges have created programs that intermingle both a nursing curriculum with business and management classes. With such a program, individuals are able to obtain dual master’s degrees.

Capella University provides both master’s and doctorate programs in health care administration. This school also has programs that focus on managing nonprofit agencies, as well as social and community services. These areas of focus bring public health issues to light. With millions of people uninsured, public health with rise in importance as the cost of health care increases in the coming years.

Colorado Technical University has an online undergraduate degree program in health care administration management. Kaplan University also has a similar degree program on the internet.

Health care administrators have become more important in recent years in light of managed health care. These individuals work in clinics, hospitals, extended health care facilities and doctor’s offices. Health care administrators are responsible for things such as accounting, nurse management, maintenance, human resources and finance management. Public health law and the practices of health insurance law are subjects that today’s health administrator would need to be well versed in. They would also need to be familiar with the current laws concerning Medicare and Medicaid, as the care for the elderly is a major health care issue.

There are bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees available in the industry of health administration. There are also numerous job opportunities in the health care field that only require certification that can be obtained through a few classes that focus on specific skills needed for the jobs.

The University of Phoenix Online provides bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate programs in health administration. They also offer a double master’s program which combines that level of degree in both nursing and health administration. Warren National University also offers all three levels of health administration degrees. Capella University provides a master’s degree program in human services with a concentration in health administration.

CDI College offers the following health administration certification programs: Hospital Patient Registration Specialist, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Laboratory Assistant, Medical Office Administrator, Medical Office Assistant, Nursing Assistant and Pharmacy Technician.

The responsibilities of medical support staffs has evolved due to frequent changes that patients make in health care providers and insurance carriers. Between payment authorizations, and communication between primary providers and specialists, any health care related position like these will most likely have some administrative work.

Health care administration has also developed a branch in information technology. With electronic health records and medical imaging diagnostic tools, information technologists are needed more and more. Also, HIPAA statutes are in place, and since personal medical files are closer to becoming paperless, these technologists are responsible for providing safeguards to protect privacy. Many universities now offer bachelor’s degrees in health information technology for this reason.

A staggering forty million Americans are without any type of health insurance, and this is why health administrators have an important role in the public health sector. These administrators need particular social skills so that they can effectively manage busy outpatient clinics.

Healthcare administrators are needed in the elder care and assisted living field as well. These facilities house a range of needs and varying levels of needed care. Human relation skills as well as good administrative skills are needed for positions in such a facility.

Some aspects of health care management overlap with health care administration, and the terms are often used synonymously. Health care administration involves more direct daily management in health care facilities, such as a head nurse who is responsible for scheduling nurses on a certain floor of the hospital. Health care management would refer to an individual who is in charge of directing an entire health care facility.

Health care management and health care administration have only subtle differences, and not every master’s or doctorate program will label the course of study in the same fashion. Sometimes health administration will involve policy making decisions, and sometimes health care management will involve that.

There is an MBA offered at the University of Phoenix Online that specializes in health care management. This course of study prepares students for administrative decisions related to health care finance, database management, health care infrastructure, and health care organization maintenance.

At American InterContinental University, there is an MBA offering that has a health care management focus. There is also a similar program of the same name at Jones International University. They offer accelerated programs with classes lasting eight weeks. At Colorado Technical University, there is a bachelor’s program in health care management.

There are other schools that offer certificate programs and degrees in health care management information. There are increasing numbers of electronic files that need to be protected due to person health information of patients, and that is why such a degree program is needed.

Still a number of master’s programs in health care management are geared towards public health. Online courses may lead to A Master’s in Public Health/Community Health, or an MBA in Health Services. With one of these degrees, an individual might work at the city, country or state level Department of Health. Such individuals might be involved in health care policy-making. There are also PhD programs available is such a field.

Communications, information technology, and finance are all a part of the health care industry. Many of these related issues are covered in a course of study towards a master’s degree in health care management or health care administration. The goal of the positions attained as a result of one of these degrees is to maintain healthy organizations.

Individuals who have already started working in the health care industry often seek a master’s degree in health care management. These individuals choose programs that will qualify them to advance in their career. Sometimes, these individuals have temporary positions and they need certain credentials to become permanent, or they would like to move up in rank.

Online colleges and universities offer flexible courses for such individuals. Students might be nurses who are interested in becoming supervisors at a clinic or hospital. Other students might be billing specialists or insurance experts who desire to run the accounting department of a health care facility.

Public health is becoming increasingly important each year, and many students embarking on their post-secondary journey might major in that. Health care management degrees may also be of interest to undergraduates. There are also interesting careers related to assisted living and administration mediums that connect health providers with insurance companies.

With a master’s degree in health care management, many of the positions in these fields would become available. With transferred credits, a master’s degree in the health industry can take far less than five years to attain at an accredited online institution.

Many online schools have created programs that expedite the education process without sparing quality. Legitimate degrees can be acquired from an online school faster than at a traditional university. Many online schools offer a variety of health care management specializations.

At American Intercontinental University, both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in health care management are available. The bachelor’s degree focuses on business. Colorado Technical University Online provides a bachelor’s in business program with a concentration in health care management.

There is a master’s in health administration and a health care management MBA program available at the University of Phoenix Online. They offer master’s programs in nursing/health care education and nursing/integrative health care. Obviously, these are for management and teaching positions. The University of Phoenix offers a master’s degree in nursing with an MBA in health care management. They also provide a dual degree with a master’s in nursing and a master’s in health administration.

These degree programs represent the blend of business and medicine that is involved in health care management. Online educational facilities have become unprecedented in helping individuals pursue that mixture.

Online schools provide an abundance of opportunities for aspiring healthcare professionals, including almost any administrative or non-medical healthcare career that you can think of. There are some schools that offer online Registered Nursing programs. Both the University of Phoenix Online and Kaplan University offer bachelor of science degrees to individuals who are already working as registered nurses.

There are a number of specialized skills and administrative aspects behind the healthcare industry. A majority of the skills necessary can be obtained through the provisions of online educational institutions. These colleges and universities are certified, and the degrees are authentic. Certifications, as well as bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate’s degrees can be acquired online in the various disciplines under non-medical healthcare professions.

Kaplan University offers certification programs in case management, forensic nursing, legal nurse consulting, geriatric care management, and life care planning. These programs for registered nurses who need to specialize in order to qualify for a certain position. Kaplan also provides a health care management bachelor’s degree program.

Case management has to do with health insurance. Individuals in case management are responsible for decisions related to which treatments are covered by insurance, and handing claim disputes. Case managers are also involved in the clinical testing of drugs during pre-release, in the biotech field. There is certainly a growing need for individuals to fill such positions.

Online bachelor’s and graduate degrees in health administration are available at Kennedy Western University. The University of Phoenix Online offers master’s programs in nursing and healthcare management, healthcare administration, and business administration with a specialization in healthcare administration. Healthcare management degrees are also offered at Ashworth College, who also offers public health classes.

Anyone interested in working towards a degree in healthcare administration should think about where they want to end up working specifically. Health administration is a broad label, that encompasses a number of different focuses. It will be helpful to decide on a concentration, like clinic management or public health, before embarking on the path to your degree.

The past twenty years have ushered dramatic changes in health care. Technological advancements have significantly increased the types of medical exams and treatments that are at the disposal of physicians. The development of managed health care has also altered traditional medical practices. For instance, the invention of numerous types of scanning equipment has changed the field of radiography. This new series of equipment calls for people who can operate them. As a result of new lab technology, there are a number of new specializations for lab technicians.

Because of the financial issues created by the power of the insurance industry, along with the persistent problem of insufficient nursing staffs, positions such as a nurse or a medical assistant have become absolutely essential. The job requirements of a medical assistant include a vast variety of tasks and responsibilities, depending on where the position is held. These responsibilities can range from being a helping hand to a doctor, or handling certain recorded activities with patients.

All of these careers have some sort of degree program available. A position like nursing requires a great deal of study that not will necessarily earn a bachelor’s degree. Other jobs require a certain group of classes along with an exam and certification. The state department of health normally regulates the standards for positions that require certification. You can check with your state department of health about such a position to find out what the requirements are exactly.

There are a number of college degrees available in the health care field, including nursing, and a host of health care management or administration careers. Many online colleges provide three degree levels, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate, in the area of health administration. These include Warren National University, University of Phoenix, and Kaplan University, which also offers a program that enables registered nurses to obtain a bachelor’s degree.

The University of Phoenix Online offer a variety of specializations including health care education, integrative health care, and a nursing combined with a master’s in health administration (double major) and a master’s in nursing combined with an MBA which has a specialty in health care management (also a double major).

There is a degree program provided by the Florida Metropolitan University for Assisted Living Administration. Due to our maturing population, assisted living has become a growing health care specialization. There is a number of assisted living facilities that need trained individuals. Florida Metropolitan University also has a bachelor’s degree program for health administration. Not all programs are offered online, but there are some health care degree programs offered on campus.

The health care industry is a rapidly growing field, and many people are choosing to go back to school to take advantage of this opportunity. It is a great choice for an initial career, or a career change.

Online certification is available for numerous technical positions in the field. These online education programs are normally intensive, and do not require very many years to complete. The various positions for which online certification is available include medical assistant, radiography technician, nurse’s assistant, medical information technology technician, hospital intake specialist, and several other positions in the field.

Not only are there certification programs, but many online educational institutions offer complete degrees in health care. There are associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate programs that can be obtained on the internet. There degrees may focus on specific areas in the health care field and offer different levels of academic achievement.

Here are a few online colleges or universities that offer such health care related degree programs.

The University of Phoenix Online offer the following programs: Bachelor of Science/Health Administration Bachelor of Science in Nursing Master of Business Administration/Health Care Management Master of Health Administration Master of Science in Nursing Master of Science in Nursing – Nursing/Health Care Education Master of Science in Nursing/Integrative Health Care Master of Science in Nursing/Master of Business Administration/Health Care Management Master of Science in Nursing/Master of Health Administration Doctor of Health Administration.

Naturally, not all of these programs will require the same amount of time to complete. Online degrees are tailored to adults who are currently working full-time. The University of Phoenix Online utilizes intensive teaching methods that significantly reduce the amount of “class time” required.

Capella University also offers online degree programs, including a master’s in human services with specialization in health care administration. Other master’s degree programs that Capella University offers are master’s of science in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology and sports psychology.

Colorado Technical University Online offers a BA in business with a concentration in health care. They also provide an MBA in health care management.

Jones International University has a unique enrollment calendar. They offer new classes every four weeks, and each concentrated course takes eight weeks. They provide a master’s program in health care management.

Health care information technology is a growing field that many seek degrees in. Online, you may obtain an associated degree in health information technology. Degrees like a bachelor’s in biomedical informatics, which is related to health care research, may also be acquired online. Another online degree, bachelor’s in biomedical engineering technology involves the innovation of therapeutic products, rehabilitative devices and other medical hardware.

We all encounter medical professionals at least once in a while, even if we visit family in a hospital, or go in for our annual check-up. If you pay attention to the various positions around you, there is a good chance that you can eventually have a similar position as a result of an online degree. Do some internet research if it interests you. There is much more out there, and you may find a good program that is right for you.

They offer bachelor’s degrees in health administration and a bachelor’s in business administration with a health care management specialty. They have a master’s degree in health administration and several master’s degrees in nursing with specialties that include health care education, integrative health care and health care management. University of Phoenix also offers a dual master’s in nursing and health administration, and a PhD in health administration.

Clearly, health care management is a profession that has reached sufficient levels of sophistication so as to be broken into specialty components. There are also degrees available in health care information systems management. Nursing has become as much a management role as the traditional caregiver that is associated with the starched white hat. A healthcare management degree will provide employment opportunities in hospitals, outpatient clinics, hospice facilities, specialty rehabilitation and therapy clinics, home health care, and any number of positions in the insurance industry.

There is a core of business classes that are required for the major. These can be taken at a community college, or online. Once you have chosen a school where you will pursue the degree, it’s important to make sure that any preliminary credits you pursue elsewhere will qualify. If you are going to reach for the master’s degree, there are several options to be found there as well. Boston University lists a master’s in health administration, in health services administration and in public health. Florida International University offers a master’s in health services administration.

Health care management has also, for better or worse, taken on a political cast as the insurance industry becomes more regulated. Medicare plays an enormous role in health care today and will continue to grow. The study of health care management will have to include a basic understanding of the statutory requirements at both the state and federal level regarding insurance requirements, and the developments in case law that impact the delivery of health services.

You can find educational resources for all of these issues, and you’ll want them as you work toward a degree in health care management. You can assemble your degree from an assortment of schools, if you wish. Community colleges have become the best bargain in higher education, especially when it comes to completing core courses. Online schools provide their services by the course, as well as by the degree. If you can’t find an online degree program that you like, settle for a degree from a nearby college and determine how many course credits you can bring with you, in order to minimize your tuition requirements.

Through online programs there are bachelors degrees available in health information management and also in information technology, which can apply to the health care field. The technology of health care provides opportunities for people in the fields of networking, information management and telecommunications.

By earning a bachelors or masters degree in the health care field, you can easily advance into the role of clinic or health administrator. There are a number of options available through online schools that lead toward administrative roles. There are also many online programs that offer degrees in health administration; health administration/long term care; health care services; and similar types of specialization that can lead you toward the specific career you desire.

Trained health care administrators are often employed within different types of medical practices. Today’s physicians often work in large service organizations with hundreds of employees; businesses of this size employ health care professionals on both the medical and the business side. By earning an online degree while working, many entry level employees have been able to work their way into professional and management positions.

Healthcare and nursing businesses are evolving rapidly, and the jobs within them are changing as well. Online schools’ purpose is to provide distance learning for individuals who are seeking to gain a new career or improve their current one, therefore, they keep up with these changes. Enroll today in an educational institution that trains people to go above and beyond the standards of today’s job market by continuing healthcare education through distance learning.
