In reality, there is no black and white instruction manual for creating a successful business empire. However, many aspiring entrepreneurs are heading back to the classroom for one of these 5 business degrees to develop their business sense and to increase their chances of success.

1. Bachelor Degree in Management with an E-Business Emphasis

The business management degree in E-Business equips students with an understanding of the global electronic market. Specific skills sets acquired at the completion of the business management degree include marketing, advertising, and information technology.

2. Bachelor Degree in Management with a Sales and Marketing Emphasis

Students learn about market research and effective sales techniques with this business management degree. Whether considering a business that offers a product or a service, sales and marketing are central to business growth.

3. Bachelor of Science in Business with a Finance Emphasis

A finance business management degree helps students learn how to properly manage cash flow in business start-ups. In addition to writing, oral communication, and other professional skills, the business management degree focuses on the development of effective financial decision making skills and an understanding of global finance.

4. Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

Students looking for a broad business management degree may be best suited for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In this business management degree, students acquire an all-encompassing skill set, including financial accounting, managerial finance, quantitative analysis, economics, marketing, and business-based research.

5. Associate Degree in Business and Management

Not all successful business owners have a bachelor business management degree on their resumes. Some professionals may simply need an educational jump-start with a two-year associate degree in business. The Associate of Applied Science in Business and Management is a streamlined business management degree that offers focused classes for business professionals.

For a complete list of campus-based and online business management degree programs, students are encouraged to visit College-Pages.com, the leading education and career resource website. Prospective students will also find links to informative articles for making education and career decisions in the field of business.

Nonprofit organizations, neither a part of business or government, exist to further a cause rather than to make profits. Nonprofit agencies make no profits, but they still require financial resources to carry out necessary activities and programs. For students interested in pursuing nonprofit organization jobs, the position of fundraiser is one of many opportunities.

What is a Fundraiser?

The nonprofit job opportunity of fundraiser is one that encompasses seeking out money for the agency. It involves developing relationships with potential donors, hosting special events to raise awareness for the cause and solicit donations, requesting long-term regular gifts and bequests, writing grant letters, and directing phone and mail campaigns. In large organizations, there may be five financial nonprofit jobs that specialize in each of these categories of giving.

What Does a Fundraiser Do on a Daily Basis?

Nonprofit jobs in the area of large gift giving focus on researching potential donors and building relationships. Fundraisers may arrange for special gifts for major donors, such as putting his or her name on a building or giving tickets to a performance. The professional who secures the nonprofit job opportunity of planned giving also establishes relationships and stays current on tax, gift, and estate law in order to help donors receive the best tax benefits for their donations.

Other fundraising nonprofit jobs focus on event planning. Event coordinators have very detailed work, including everything from sending out invitations to planning the particulars of the event. Another detailed nonprofit job opportunity is directing campaigns. The mail campaign director may write a letter explaining the mission of the organization and asking for donations. The campaign director may also buy lists of names from marketing companies in order to better target the potential donor. He or she is then in charge of recording financial donations and sending out thank you notes.

Grant writing is another possibility in fundraising nonprofit organization jobs. A professional who has secured the nonprofit job opportunity of grant writer researches potential granters and submits a written proposal explaining the organization’s financial needs. A grant writer may also engage in relationship building by meeting with potential granters to increase a proposal’s chance of success.

What Education is Required to be a Fundraiser?

Although no specific education is required to hold fundraising nonprofit jobs, most fundraisers have a bachelor’s degree in marketing, a bachelor’s degree in public relations, or a bachelor’s degree in English. Many schools are now offering specialized degrees that focus on nonprofit management. Capella University offers a Master of Science in Human Services in Management of Nonprofit Agencies as well as a PhD in Human Services in Management of Nonprofit Agencies.

It also helps to have office experience in a nonprofit agency before beginning a nonprofit job search. Learning the ins and outs of the organization and observing fundraising activities is often the best preparation for landing a desirable nonprofit job opportunity in fundraising.

What Qualities are Necessary for Success as a Fundraiser?

Fundraising nonprofit jobs require a professional to be outgoing, confident, and service-oriented. Effective verbal and written communication skills are also a must as fundraisers must interact with potential donors and draft grant proposals and mail campaign letters. Finally, fundraising nonprofit jobs require individuals who are persuasive and not shy. Asking for money from a donor requires courage and the ability to explain why the organization’s cause merits a financial donation.

Students who are interested in nonprofit organization jobs may contact Capella University for more information. College-Pages.com also has an extensive list of available programs and education resources.

Distance learning has come of age and with it the opportunity to extend your business administration education. There are online business administration programs for PhD studies as well as online MBA programs. Online business administration doctoral programs actually extend into two areas: the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) which focuses on the application of theory, as well as the traditional academically-oriented PhD in Business Administration.

Both University of Phoenix Online and Warren National University offer a DBA degree. Warren National University has an online doctorate course for business administration that includes concentrated focus in the following areas: Finance Information Systems Project and Systems Management

Capella University has an online business PhD program with specializations in General Business and Human Resource Management.

While not every online business administration school has a doctoral program, the ones that do seem to have been thorough in their design and development. Online doctoral business administration programs provide the same faculty guidance and dissertation review that is found on a traditional campus. The opportunities to focus on global business issues and the quantum shift in economic power on this planet are every bit as topical in the online business administration PhD programs as they are on campus.

Online MBA programs offer a wealth of specialization areas that present a premier opportunity for career advancement. If you are seeking leverage to break into the business world, an online master’s program in business administration can certainly be a valuable tool. But if you are already employed in a corporate environment and have hit the ceiling far too soon, there is an online MBA program to fits your needs.

Kaplan University provides online MBA programs that specialize in any of the following:

Entrepreneurship

Finance

Human Resources Management

Information Technology Management

Communication and Quality Marketing

Capella University has online MBA degrees with the following specialties:

General Business

Accounting

Finance

Marketing

An online graduate degree in business administration might be the ticket out of the middle of your corporate department into the director’s office.

Jones International University has an online MBA degree available and also a Master of Arts in Business Communication. This degree focuses on such areas as team-building skills; leadership and communication skills; management strategy and technique; and research and reporting techniques. Here is an online variation of the MBA that might fit many a frustrated, midl-evel professional like a glove.

The online MBA opportunities are there for people with interest in international business and the public sector. University of Phoenix Online has MBA degrees that include the following specialties:

Global Management

Public Administration

Marketing

Accounting

Human Resources Management

University of Phoenix Online also offers a master’s degree in management.

If we start at the beginning of an Accounting business, a discussion of the basic terminology that flows through the business is probably in order. Definitions for ledger sheets, the language of the business, the pieces that make an accounting system fit together – it helps to be conversant in the language of the trade and understand the tools. You can find an excellent and thorough overview of the basics, written in comfortable English, at http://www.businesstown.com/accounting/basic.asp.

Also at that site, you will find discussions of concepts such as cost control, projections, and credit and collections. An understanding of these issues is important in helping a client analyze his business based on the evidence found in the accounting documents. It is also helpful in analyzing your business, or potential business if you are thinking about opening an accounting firm.

Most of us researching the accounting business at this juncture are contemplating small business ventures. You can still draw ideas and knowledge from looking at the business plans of larger concerns. A marketing and business plan for a mid-sized accounting firm can be found at http://www.bplans.com/spv/3382/3.cfm. There is some market analysis, discussions for growing the business in various sectors, and a table of hourly fees that the firm charges for various staff: CPAs, accounting staff, bookkeeping staff and so forth. The firm is based in Southern California, so adjust your expectations accordingly.

There is a wealth of information at the web site of the AICPA, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Much of what is found in their main section is news of the industry and the Association. A little clicking though, and you will find a roster of accounting organizations’ websites at http://www.aicpa.org/yellow/ypaass.htm. There are dozens of them, regional and worldwide. There is an American Association of Women Accountants, the British Accounting Association, etc. One of those groups, the American Accounting Association, has a research page on their website at http://aaahq.org/facdev/research/rpubs.htm.

A professional website that is a little less mercenary and written for the CPA-to-be as well as people in the trade can be found at http://www.accountingeducation.com. This site has some advertised links on it that may or may not be of value. There’s a lot of information about the accounting business for sale on the internet; the trick is finding what you want to know without pulling out a credit card.

One of the choices you might consider is asking a few questions locally. Call a local accounting firm and ask if there is a local organization. Poke around the local community college and you will certainly find a faculty member willing to talk with you about resources. There are texts on how to structure a small business and entire college majors on the business of accounting. Let the web take you as far as you can go and then decide what questions you have that remain unanswered.

Contact the community college and find a lecturer or professor who will speak with you. At that level, faculty members often welcomed interested parties of any stripe. Give it a try: one expert in accounting might lead to another one in small business, who can then send you to a Chamber of Commerce member who has run a small business for a couple of decades. Just follow the trail.

A new accounting business can go in a number of directions. Tax preparation is the big, once-a- year business opportunity for an accounting firm. Many small accounting firms – one to five person shops – will work twelve hour days, and even longer through March to mid-April during tax season. For some, it’s probably like Christmas for a retailer: the season carries them through subsequent slow months.

Tax preparation as a profession has gotten a lot more time-efficient with the advent of tax preparation software. Most accountants have moved beyond the consumer-level Turbotax or Taxcut products to more sophisticated accounting programs. It’s then a matter of plugging in the figures provided by the client, helping make decisions on itemization, and dividing taxable from non- taxable expenses.

Small accounting businesses can handle an extraordinary number of tax returns these days. That is one reason for starting an accounting business: everyone has to pay taxes once a year. A good accountant can build a customer base that is all he can handle for tax season and most will return each year. It’s a retail level business with a guaranteed clientele.

Accounting is a business that builds its clientele on personal relationships. Timely, friendly service will keep tax customers coming back. Building an accounting business that provides accounting services for existing businesses requires some marketing and footwork.

Probably the best investment for a small accountant is an ad in the Yellow Pages, as that is where much of your unsolicited business will come from. The rest will probably come from personal referrals. A new accounting business can invest in some direct mail to introduce the firm. You can purchase mailing lists of businesses by zip code and put out a letter or brochure introducing your firm and your services. Send your mail to the CEO, NOT the accounting department. Follow up your mailing with a telephone call to see if you can get in the door for an introductory meeting.

For a new business, professionally done presentation materials are a good investment. Prepare a sheet with a biography and photo of yourself, highlighting your credentials and experience. Prepare another sheet, or brochure, that illustrates the potential cost savings of outsourcing accounting services. Write a personal cover letter to the person you’re meeting or hope to meet. Put it all in a two or three color folder with the name of your firm on it and mail it – or hand carry it, if you’re going to a meeting. Never run out of business cards.

For a small, new accounting firm its phone work and footwork. If you do enough of it, you’ll get some response. So one of the things you want to do before you open your doors is decide how much business you want. Can you handle the books for two firms? Three? Remember that a tax practice blows a big hole in the schedule every year.

There comes a point for every small business when the owner will have to hire an employee in order to continue growth. Perhaps the toughest decision for any small business is when that cycle of growth reaches a point of diminishing returns – when the additional income doesn’t pay for additional staff or for the headaches that always accompany success.

Do you feel that you are being held back in your career, even though you know more, perform better and are constantly innovative in your approach to getting things done at your company? Are there other people who are passing you by who don’t seem as proficient at their jobs as you are? Maybe what you lack is something that company executives hold in great esteem – A Master of Business Degree.

Tuck School of Business, part of Dartmouth College, conferred the first MBA Degree in 1900. Since then the degree has come to represent a high degree of skill level for successful candidates who are sought after for high level company positions, and wooed by every type of company around the world. MBA programs expose students to a variety of subjects, including economics, organizational behavior, marketing, accounting, finance, strategy, operations management, international business, information technology management and government policy.

Many programs allow students to specialize in particular areas, such as organizational behavior, marketing, accounting, finance, operations management, technology management, insurance management, strategy or international business.

Business schools and leading media announce on a regular basis the recruitment of MBAs by leading management consulting firms. The constantly evolving global economy dictates that candidates for international positions have an MBA because of the experience garnered during the degree program.

There are international MBA programs around the world, and programs that can be accessed online by distance learning or e-learning. One of those is the Open University Business School of the UK, which enrolls worldwide students. The European MBA programs are typically one year shorter than those found in the United States.

In the United States, by one estimate, the average cost of earning an MBA through an accredited full-time program (excluding room and board) rose from $124,000 in 1993 to $162,000 in 2001. The bulk of the cost shown is in the form of foregone earnings ($109,000 in 1993 and $124,000) in 2001). This same report shows that when accounting for the decrease in expected unemployment as well as the increase in expected wages and wage growth, the financial benefits to holding an MBA degree are the equivalent of an 18% rate of return on the cost of the degree.

Further statistics demonstrate that a starting salary for an MBA degree holder with no corporate experience is $75,000. And the salary of a jobholder who ventures out to obtain an MBA degree will increase 50%-100% when the degree program is complete.

Those statistics alone show the importance of a Master of Business Administration Degree, and its place in securing your financial future. Perhaps it is time for you to consider taking the first step to finding the perfect MBA program for you. It could be you sitting in the Executive Boardroom.

Do you want to become a senior leader in a management profession and thoroughly understand the global, market-based economy? Is your current management position unfulfilling and leading nowhere? The completion of a Doctor of Business Administration Degree (DBA) can provide you with a way to achieve different goals.

The DBA degree offers the means to explore and master business administration literature and apply this knowledge to current business environments.

Armed with a DBA degree you will be able to identify and research alternatives to solving business problems and offer the highest, value-added solutions. You will become competent in performing financially justified analyses of opportunities in the global market and demonstrate business knowledge that makes you an expert in your field. You will be involved in formulating and redesigning industry rules and standards.

Leadership in the constantly evolving and increasingly complex business organizations requires the tools to master the situation. It requires a more sophisticated level of knowledge and skills, and completion of a DBA will provide that knowledge and skill level. Once successfully completed, this program will enhance business career development, regardless of the career path selected.

Students in a DBA program can choose an area of specialization and have a minor in Global Business. Some of the majors offered are: finance, management and labor relations, marketing, and production/operations management.

Most of the programs offered for DBA coursework must be preceded by a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree or its equivalent, with a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher. Also three years of professional full-time employment, including supervisory experience is helpful in obtaining entrance into a DBA program.

Now that you realize the benefits of this degree, you may be wondering how you can complete the requirements, especially if you are currently employed. University of Phoenix offers a DBA online, as do Argosy University and Cleveland State University.

You can set yourself apart from other management career applicants by obtaining a Doctor of Business Administration degree. There is a program out there that suits your needs. All you have to do is apply and get going! The global economy job market awaits you!

Wondering what you can do with a degree in Business Administration? The good news is that Business Administration students are some of the most in-demand graduates in the workforce. Ever since the explosion of big business in the United States, Business Administration has become the fastest growing employment demand in the workforce, with more top positions being filled by individuals who want to further their understanding of Business Administration through a college degree. The disciplines of a Business Administration degree are demanded in every industry and opportunities range from Health Care, Hospitality, General Management, Banking and Finance, Insurance, Entertainment, Retail, and Government. A degree in Business Administration offers specializations in Human Resources, Finance, Management, and Marketing. Students seeking a degree in the field have the options including Certification Programs, Bachelor’s in Business Administration, an MBA, and even Doctorate programs in Business Administration.

The Internet has dramatically changed the way that Business Administration degree programs are administered to students. Inspired by the Distance Learning Program that many colleges have adapted in which learning and examination material are sent through the mail and completed at the student’s own pace, the online degree programs in Business Administration have made it more convenient than ever to obtain an education in the industry. Several colleges offer online programs in which students can earn their Business Administration degree from the comfort of their own homes according to their own schedule, in addition to more convenient evening and weekend courses for those students who still prefer the traditional classroom setting. Many colleges and universities also offer students internships and Credit for Prior Learning programs in the Business Administration disciplines.

Each specialty of the Business Administration degree program covers its own topics and curriculum. The fundamental education of Business Administration seeks to prepare the student for the workforce by providing them with a general understanding of the main management roles found within the modern organization. Topics cover the basic principles of Business Management such as Financial Analysis, Entrepreneurship, Marketing Principles, Organizational Strategy, Ethical Issues of Business, Business Forecasting, Investments, and Mergers and Acquisitions. The continuing education of a Business Management degree seeks to build on a student’s fundamental knowledge and provide a deeper expertise, enabling graduates to direct, control, and organize the processes of a firm or organization. Many specialty courses are offered in the advanced levels of Business Administration education such as Information Technology Management, Business and Personnel Law, Theories of Constraint, Global Enterprise, and Portfolio/Investment Analysis.

Finding a career in Business Administration is almost impossible to do without a college degree, and even harder to do with no prior experience. Because these demands of a career in Business Administration are ever-changing and rapidly advancing, some students find it beneficial to their careers to take on internships or part-time positions in the Business Administration field while pursuing their education. Also for this reason, those continuing their education from a certification to a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or from a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration to an MBA, many elect to take a few years in between to work in the field and acquire hands-on experience.

Upon researching your education options, you will find many schools offering degree programs in the Business Administration field. Among them are the University of Phoenix and Colorado Technical University, both offering online degree programs. Kennedy-Western University offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate programs as well. These are just a few of the many options when pursuing a Business Administration degree.

The salaries in Business Administration vary greatly since the field offers such diverse opportunities in many different industries. Hence, salaries are influenced by such factors as type of industry, department, and the education and experience of the Business Administration employee. Salaries for Business Administration also vary by state, region, and city. As with most careers, salaries in the business administration arena increase with education and the level of degree attained by the employee. A college degree is the most influential tool when negotiating salary.

There are many resources available for the Business Administration employee looking for a salary increase. The Internet offers many websites that offer salary statistics according to job title and state/region. It is important to be educated regarding the salary averages of your area and job title before beginning to negotiate salary. These sites also offer illustration of the major differences in salary in particular Business Administration positions among employees that possess college degrees and those employees that do not. As expected, salaries in every area of the United States are lower among employes in the Business Administration field that do not possess a college degree. Additionally, the difference in salaries among employees possessing a Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degree are illustrated as increasing with the level of education.

The University of Phoenix, Westwood College, and Capella University all offer programs in the Business Administration industry.
The good news for those seeking a career in Business Administration is that its opportunities and specialties are so diverse and its students are in high demand in every field, making salaries very negotiable between the employee and the employer, provided that the employee seeks further knowledge and skills through college education.

Since the creation of formal business education, colleges of Business Administration began appearing with specialized trainings and certifications. With big business becoming so prevalent in the United States and formal business education being established, colleges of Business Administration are now offering more advanced degree and certification programs in the educational forum. These more advanced degrees offered by colleges of Business Administration can be focused on Management, Accounting, and Marketing, Employee Relations, and Information Technology.

Today there are several options when choosing a college of Business Administration. Never has it been more convenient to receive a continuing education than today, with most colleges of Business Administration focusing on flexibility for the student. This flexibility is offered through the ability of the student to now obtain a degree online and more convenient evening and weekend courses for those students who wish to attend classes. Colleges of Business Administration have made education more accessible in the past by offering distance learning courses, in which materials and lessons were sent through service. However, this convenience has now been surpassed by one of the most common sources for formal education today – the Internet. These online degrees are increasingly being accepted as just as valuable as degrees provided by traditional on-campus programs offered by colleges of Business Administration. Several Colleges of Business Administration offer financial assistance and credit for prior learning.

In the college of Business Administration students may seek a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration as well as a Master’s and Doctorate degree. Colleges of Business Administration seek to prepare the individual to effectively organize companies, manage resources, oversee accounting and purchasing, analyze financials, develop critical and strategic thinking, and to manage risks and costs. Courses develop an understanding of management skills; the ability to work in a team based environment, and the comprehension and awareness of cultural issues in the business arena. Topics covered in degree programs offered by Colleges of Business Administration include Contract Procurement, IT Management, Financial Statement Analysis, Small Business Consulting, Legal Strategies, Personnel Management, Marketing Strategies, New Product Development, Business Forecasting, and Labor Economics. Several Master’s programs offer Mergers and Acquisitions, Advanced Corporate Finance, and Macrofinance.

Colorado Technical University offers a complete online degree program. Also offered at Colorado Technical University and other colleges of Business Administration are certification programs in Project Management, Information Technology, and Business Transformation. Specialty degrees are also offered by Colleges of Business Administration. Jones International University offers degrees in Business Administration with specialties in Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Global Enterprise Management, Health Care Management, Information Security Management, Information Technology management, Negotiation and Conflict management, and Project Management. Other Colleges of Business Administration offer specialties in Human Resource Management, e-Business, and Health Services.

With its ever-advancing technology and its “survival of the fittest” nature, managing a successful business has long been lofty task. In this advanced stage of business administration, it is essential that managers possess and maintain the necessary skills and up-to-date knowledge. But what skills are required to be a valued and sought-after business administration manager? What does the education of a Business Administration Manager consist of? What role do managers play in business administration? What are the responsibilities of a Business Administration Manager?

Business Administration Management is a popular career choice because of its demand in almost every industry. Opportunities in management include – but are not limited to – Government, Banking, Retail, Health Care, Insurance/Investments, Advertising, Loan Administration, and Hospitality. The world of business administration offers students and employees several areas of specialization. The possible options range from Human Resources and Finance, to Marketing, Sales, Information Technology, and Operations.

The skills of management in business administration vary according to the individual industry and department. The Management positions of Business Administration share a common set of required skills including the ability to build and lead teams, knowledge of small business management, comprehension of policy and structure, effective coordination of activities, and an understanding of ethical issues. In addition to these skills requirements, there are additional requirements for those whose management focuses on a specific Business Administration department.

Human Resource Management exists in virtually every industry and is attractive to some because it offers the opportunity to work on a self-employed consultant basis. Human Resource Managers are responsible for the function of the employment aspect of a company including training, assessment and evaluation, recruiting, policy and procedure development, facilitation of effective employee communication and interpersonal conflict-resolution, hiring/terminating, employee grievance resolution, and pensions/benefits/wages. Because Human Resource Managers are responsible for improving employee relations and work performance, they have a direct effect on employee morale. College degrees are more preferred than required in this field.

Financial managers are more challenged in Business Administration because almost all positions require a college degree and experience, in addition to the fact that they are required to stay abreast of the rapidly advancing services offered by financial institutions. This rapid growth of services leads many employers to seek out management with graduate degrees. Financial management education includes credits in Income Portfolio’s, Financial Strategy, Investments, Insurance, and Mergers and Acquisitions. Most Financial Management is found in the Banking and Insurance industries with duties including risk reduction, credit intermediation, direction of bank departments, and customer service. This management option also allows the freedom of working on a consultation basis to small firms.

Sales and Marketing managers are found within almost every industry in Business administration, with some employers preferring a college degree. Internships are recommended since experience is a must. Duties as a Marketing Manager include market research (identifying potential markets, pricing strategies), and promotion of the company’s products and services. Sales Managers are responsible for statistical sales research, advisement of advertising techniques, improvement of sales procedures, and maintenance of inventory requirements.

Starting a new business isn’t an easy task. It takes a considerable amount of planning, marketing know how, capital, dedication. Getting through the regulatory red-tape requires perseverance, business savvy, and knowing where to look and what to do. To get a young business off the ground, consider checking out the resources available at the United States Small Business Administration.

Small businesses carry much of the employment burden without the benefits that larger corporations enjoy. They employ over half of the adult workforce in the United States. Recognizing the important contributions of small businesses, Congress established the US Small Business Administration in 1953 to give small businesses visibility in the marketplace and to promote fair and equitable competition in the business world. Today, the US Small Business Administration is an independent federal agency dedicated to addressing small business concerns, offering forms and publications, advice, and tips to help individuals contemplating starting up their own businesses succeed and grow.

As part of its goal to educate small business owners about the art of running a business, the US Small Business Administration maintains a training network through its Office of Entrepreneurial Development. Free online courses are offered in the following subjects:

Starting a business Managing a business Business planning tools Contracting with governmental agencies Risk management and security E-Commerce Financial management Training in understanding tax laws and regulations Marketing tools International trade topics

Among its more popular course offerings is the online class in Entrepreneurship: Starting and Managing Your Own Business.

The US Small Business Administration also sponsors national training events. These training events are taught by business professionals and offer young start-ups tips on such subjects as the following:

Devising the business plan Enacting e-commerce Driving sales through effective marketing Caring and growing a business Tax planning workshops Negotiation strategies

Information and registration at these training events are accessible through the US Small Business Administration’s training website.

Part of running a successful business requires an awareness of the regulations and policies affecting businesses. The US Small Business Administration provides business owners with regular postings of regulatory alerts, press releases, economic profiles, and new reports issued by Congress. Businesses can use the online law library to access forms, records, procedures, reports, and studies covering various aspects of small business administration.

If business owners aren’t clear about the applicability of specific rules and regulations as it relates to their business, they are free to step into a SBA field office to seek assistance from other local resources and counseling in the community. Each SBA field office features a program that offers information about starting businesses through the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) or the Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Information about disaster assistance, loans and financing a small business are also available at each field office.

Starting a business doesn’t have to be a lonely endeavor. Take advantage of the resources the US Small Business Administration has to offer, and take the start-up to the next level!

As an educational term, business administration has come to encompass an extraordinary number of academic study areas. As business has become more complex, so too has the oversight of companies: their management, their growth strategies, their personnel issues, their taxes and the role that taxes play in corporate economic strategy. Advertising has grown to include multiple media outlets and an assortment of targeted interest groups: new customers, repeat customers, stockholders, investors and new geographic markets. Marketing has become the term of choice for all of this strategically placed product exposure.

Defining business administration then means defining oversight roles for the assortment of internal specialties that every business of any size has come to include. That is why business administration degrees are now offered with a remarkable number of categorical specialties available as choices of study. Perhaps the best way to define business administration is to look at the types of courses offered in MBA curriculums and the specialties, or “majors,” that one can opt for in an MBA program.

For a large corporation, business administration is going to include international and global business, as well as strategy and economics. In this instance, the definition of business administration will include requirements of certain cultural differences and an acute understanding of the global economy and its current fluidity. Also included in business administration at this scale is the art and science of acquisition: when to buy a company or property and why.

Business administration will always include the intangible quality of leadership; you can obtain an MBA that specializes in just that. Along with leadership comes the task of negotiation and conflict resolution, specifically with regard to personnel. Behavioral psychology plays an important role in business administration: a misstep in an adversarial situation with a union can take a company under, as it did Continental Airlines some years ago.

The definition of business administration will have to include marketing; you won’t have a business to administer unless you sell your products. Ancillary to marketing is an understanding of the new tools available for product distribution, and that will involve understanding e-business and how it is rapidly evolving.

Whether you are working with distributors that are small businesses or you are starting your own business, business administration includes an understanding of entrepreneurship: tax structures for small businesses along with personnel issues at that level, inventory and cash flow, and all the other small matters that make a big difference to a new or small business.

A critical part of business administration is the awareness of risk. This might include the risk of launching a new product, and the costs involved; the risk of an acquisition, the risk of a competitive strategy, the company’s exposure in opting for this health plan instead of that one. There are risks involved in other personnel decisions and this area is of tangible importance: company morale is a key to productivity and the resultant profitability.

There are MBA courses taught in all of these areas, and MBA degrees that specialize in many of them. The definition of business administration includes whatever knowledge is required to make all of these components work productively, if not in complete harmony.

College has evolved drastically over the past few decades. Studying liberal arts for four years is a thing of the past. Today’s college student is more likely to have given some thought to the purpose of his or her college education. That thought process may well conclude that an undergraduate degree has a far more limited impact in the job market today than just twenty years ago.

Accordingly, if a college student’s opportunity for study is initially limited to four years, then a bachelor’s degree in business administration may be the most valuable four-year degree within the curriculum. A bachelor’s in business administration is the ticket to an entry level or mid-level position in the traditional business structure in any number of departmental roles.

A graduate with a degree in business administration could break into a corporation in sales, in marketing, in the accounting end of the operation, in project management – it’s a degree that says the person presenting this resume is competent and sufficiently trained to function (and be trusted) in a variety of posts. There are not many bachelor’s degrees that provide that sort of cross-functional promise to an HR department.

The business administration major is learning about the several aspects of business at both a macro- and micro-level. When the student has completed the bachelor’s degree in business administration, he or she knows enough about each of those aspects to be conversant with them. The student should understand the role of each department or subdivision of a business and be equipped to take on minor roles with competence.

Many, if not most of today’s college students coming out of high school understand that an undergraduate degree has limited value above the middle management level. In the corporate world, the best foundation for nearly any sort of graduate work is a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Degrees in economics and finance are impressive, but a degree in business administration gives the graduate a multifaceted value to the potential employer.

If individuals with a bachelor degree in business administration want to raise the educational bar, they are equipped with the knowledge and background needed move on to graduate studies. These students can consider an MBA or a management degree; they can focus on other related areas such as marketing or IT or global business opportunity without too much concern for the core areas of study which have already been learned.

A bachelor’s in business administration matches up almost as well with a law degree. Attorneys in corporate firms have gotten to be acquainted more with information about business practices than with the tax laws that apply. It is also true that attorneys who seek opportunities in the public sector will find that the underpinnings of a business administration degree round out the resume nicely. A bachelor’s degree in business administration is an extremely valuable asset, whether acquired online or on campus.

Since the Internet has become an educational institution, one of the most popular programs in the field is the master’s in business administration. There are a number of reasons for this and, correspondingly, there are a number of educational facilities offering the degree online.

What once were known as “correspondence courses” have become the curriculum for “distance learning,” delivered yesterday via the United States Postal Service and today over the internet. Online education has become a mainstream choice for both computer owners and traditional educational institutions. You can take individual courses, or a concentrated curriculum and receive a certificate recognizing completion of a course of study. Every traditional college degree from Associate to Doctorate is available through online schools.

Online education tends to be a choice of people who are beyond college age and for one reason or another, wish to further their educational achievements. The goal can be completion of a degree begun long ago or it can be adding the necessary education to advance personal options in the business world. Online students are most often seeking to provide themselves with credentials to move up within their chosen profession, or to move on to a new field of endeavor. That is why the masters program in business administration is so popular on the internet.

An online MBA is the hammer to the glass ceiling for many thousands of people who have gotten as far as they can go with a bachelor’s degree, whether it is finance-oriented or not. Today, human resources departments use scanners to sort resumes submitted for job postings. If the words “masters” and “business administration” don’t pop up, many an application for an executive position is out of contention.

This is increasingly true for mid-level professional positions, and it is also true even when the hiring process favors existing employees. Too often, the MBA is a non-negotiable requirement for a certain level of professional responsibility within a corporate structure. It doesn’t matter who you know or how well you’ve performed.

Business administration studies on the internet are perfect for the employed professional who wants to move forward. Classes and studies can be scheduled around work hours, and course loads can vary according to the student’s other responsibilities. The internet offers a wide variety of master’s programs in business administration that specialize in areas of professional expertise.

As an example, the University of Phoenix Online offers master’s degrees in business administration with special focus in these areas: marketing, accounting, global management, human resources management and public administration. Through Phoenix you can also enroll in an executive master’s of business administration program, also on the internet. Also on the internet, Jones International University has MBA programs of study that specialize in entrepreneurship, finance, health care management, information technology management and information security management. These are partial lists that provide an example of the wealth of business administration degrees that can be achieved on the internet.

The master’s in business administration is a perfect mid-career tool for people who are well into adulthood before beginning to chart a real career path. The internet is made for people who want to return to school while maintaining jobs and family obligations. For many of us, it’s a perfect fit.

Masters programs in business administration have at many schools been fragmented into specialty areas. Today there are MBA degrees available with curriculums that specialize in accounting, finance, project management, information technology and marketing – and that is a partial list. The Executive Master’s of Business Administration is a degree targeted at people in middle management who wish to acquire the skills to move towards the top.

An Executive MBA is a degree in management. The course work includes many aspects of management, but the principal focus is strategy. Students pursing this degree will learn what strategies prompt certain business decisions, what sort of data is required to come to that decision and how to acquire and analyze that data.

For more and more American corporations today, operational decision making must be made within a global framework. It is no longer just the major U.S. industrial firms; many mid-sized manufacturers and even agricultural interests have offshore competition bringing products into this country and thus foreign economies and labor situations can have an impact. An Executive MBA program addresses this new reality, the “globalization” of the economy and expands the decision making process to an international scope.

Beneath the operational considerations of any business there should be a policy that helps guide the decision making process. Executive MBA candidates will look at case studies and track the decision making process that company leadership used. As with any business administration degree program, the course work will include looking at the experiential data that was used in the decision making process. In an executive business administration program, the use of the computer as a decision-making analytical tool is a key component of the curriculum.

Other important areas of study may well include the ability to recognize and analyze potential ethical issues involved in decisions facing the executive, and if necessary to seek alternative courses of action. The fundamentals of business law will probably be incorporated into the course of study. The overall goal of an executive masters in business administration is to teach the participant how to integrate different functional areas in solving business problems.

Statistical analysis will be a point of intense scrutiny: learning how to thoroughly extract information from available data. Transactional analysis may be a course topic entirely of its own. Strategic finance is an important component of an executive MBA program: understanding the positioning that drives mergers and acquisitions, stock repurchases and restructuring. Risk analysis and risk hedging are also introduced as a component of capital budgeting and reviewing investment options.

Some institutions are beginning to offer executive master’s in business administration degrees that have areas of specialty just as standard MBA programs do. There is a university in Texas that offers an Executive MBA specializing in global energy. Another emerging specialty area for EMBA curriculums is health care, as managed care has made the industry rife with standardization and corporate mergers. These are programs, however, for executives with a very specific career in mind. The Executive Master’s in Business Administration is an overall preparation for leadership, much like officer’s candidate school or better yet, West Point.

Technical schools are training centers that will prepare you for every career from auto mechanic, to food marketing, to truck driver. You may find a few technology-oriented careers available at a technical school – such as software programming – or you may not. Technology colleges and schools are either institutions that offer courses for technology-oriented jobs (i.e., computer network maintenance), or they offer full college degrees in information technology and computer science fields, or they offer both.

CDI College is an example of an online college that offers certification training. They have a technology division with nine different academic choices for certification in the field of networking. Four-year colleges and universities will also have technology studies. Many of the universities have comprehensive schools of computer science that have grown out of their electrical engineering departments.

You can find some esoteric specialties in some of the larger universities, in such areas as computer languages, database design and artificial intelligence. Those sorts of institutions are best suited for those with time and dedication to pursue full four- or five-year courses of study. If you are interested in breaking into the technology field and need a certificate or a college degree to do it – while you are working – then you should consider the online option.

These schools are accredited, well established, and one of them is going to have the degree in the academic focal area that you want. Online technology degrees also, typically, take less time. They are pragmatic courses of study, designed to get you the education you need as efficiently as possible. With every year, technology offerings grow as the industry develops more complexity and areas of specialization.

Perhaps thirty years ago, a liberal arts bachelor’s degree was enough to draw consideration for at least an entry-level position in the business world. Fifteen years ago, the same level of graduate work was required to move up the ladder to any significant degree. Today, many undergraduates begin their freshman year thinking ahead to a field of graduate study and select an undergraduate major to match anticipated graduate studies.

What will get you where you want to go? Is it a BS in Economics, with an MBA? Or is it perhaps a bachelor’s degree in international finance, with a law degree to top it off? Many ambitious young people, who are willing to spend the years and take out the loans, design their educations in just such a fashion. One of the best choices for a four-year degree is the bachelor’s degree in business administration.

This degree serves a number of purposes. It is an excellent door-opener for entry- level opportunities in the corporate world following graduation. It is a catch-all category that can fit you into project management, marketing, accounting and other business operations niches with equal ease. It is also a degree that provides the opportunity to focus on specialties within the corporate world.

Westwood College offers two focal areas in its Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration program: Accounting and Marketing and Sales. Ashford University has a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management. Kaplan University offers a BS in Business Administration with a focus on Information Systems Management. You can emerge from your four-year period of study with a highly specialized bachelor’s degree in business administration which, to some human resources departments, will add up to a bachelor’s in business with additional educational experience enclosed.

It is also an excellent foundation for graduate study. The obvious choice is using a bachelor’s in business administration as a launching pad for an MBA. However many undergraduates are hearing from their counselors that a degree in business administration is also an excellent feeder for graduate work in international relations, international finance, and even law.

Many attorneys who choose not to join a law firm will opt for a role within a corporate structure. A general counsel to any corporation will need to understand the operational structure of their employer and the business world in general. The same is true of attorneys who join large firms that specialize in business law. Graduates emerging from law school face the same job hunting challenge that newly-minted college graduates face. For a corporate law firm, an attorney with an educational background in business is going to have instant value at the entry level.

For those of us who are seeking a solid ticket into the professional world, a bachelor’s degree in business administration is an excellent choice. The curriculum will prepare you for a variety of roles at entry, or mid level. The credential itself will give you a boost for promotional consideration.

For years the MBA has had a prestige that no other master’s degree can claim. During the boomtown days of the late nineties and into the new millennium, the MBA was an instant ticket to a lucrative, interesting job. To a certain extent, it still is. At Wharton, the University of Pennsylvania Business School, 90% of its 2005 graduating class had jobs lined up on graduation day, with an average starting salary of $100,000.

That’s a top school in the Ivy League where corporate recruiters no doubt descended like flies. Getting a master’s degree in business administration online is a little less glamorous. It is also a lot cheaper, not in Pennsylvania, and can have as profound an effect on your life, as it did for those young ladies and gentlemen in Philadelphia.

Online master’s programs in business administration are perhaps the best example of successful distance learning. People who opt for an online MBA program will have completed college, which means that they bring some study habits with them to the home office. They tend to be beyond the college years, which often indicates that it’s a choice clearly made and a serious pursuit. The opportunities for new MBA graduates are still robust. Moreover, as the “new economy” has evolved over the last several years, so have the areas of specialization in MBA programs, giving the student an opportunity to focus on a career area of choice.

Colorado Technical University offers no less than eight specialties in online MBA programs. These options include: Accounting. Finance. Health Care Management. Human Resource Management. Information Technology Management. Project Management. Business Management. Executive MBA.

Capella University has online Master’s in Business Administration programs with specialties in marketing, finance, and accounting. University of Phoenix Online has an MBA program that includes most of the above choices, and also offers an MBA program with a specialization in global management.

Those kinds of career options can make all the evening hours at the computer worthwhile. And there is no doubt that an MBA on the resume will shorten the job search cycle considerably. It is true that over the last five years there has been a glut of newly-minted MBAs coming into the job market. Nonetheless, the degree stills carries considerable weight when a resume is making its way through the HR process. A degree obtained after an initial excursion into the business world holds a lot of value.

People who are willing to work in order to achieve advancement will impress a personnel manager in the business world. An online master’s in business administration is proof of that uncompromising ambition. An MBA couples nicely with existing work experience. If you are in the health care field and wish to move up the management chain, you can acquire an online master’s in business administration in the health care field. If you are in human resources or interested in labor relations, there are online MBA programs with an HR focus on negotiation and conflict. There is an astonishing variety of professional avenues that can be widened with an online MBA.

The Internet era has seen marketing of a new kind. I know this first hand as I was part of a project, which paid about $5 for an easy task of putting links into blogs. Although skeptical initially I was richer by a few hundred dollars after actually having completed the work. And that’s when I realized the power of online marketing which is rather subtle in comparison to the traditional in- your-face marketing.

Ecommerce, which is short for electronic commerce, is the process used to distribute, buy, sell or market goods and services, and the transfer of funds online, through electronic communications or networks. It works better than the quite irritating pop ups and marketing mailers which usually end in the Spam mail. That’s the reason why most companies are now looking to expand their business through this channel, as it is a much faster and cheaper option.

In my case, the company that was behind providing the links, was being paid by the advertisers, who in turn were getting their payments from their end customers who were in turn referred to them through the many blogs dotting the virtual world.. The bog links are easy accessible and easy to click and navigate through and it’s easier to set up and open an online store, get it running and start making sales.

Lease Your Body

As weird as it may sound, leaseyourbody.com is one of the leading advertisement companies on the web and that’s at the back of a completely ingenious concept of space selling. Participants agree to wear temporary tattoos or logos, supplied by advertisers. While the participant can earn handsomely, in exchange, the Advertisers or companies can gain novel exposure for their business.

While we love the Internet our fascination for good old TV especially the commercials have not diminished. Lately a majority of the TV ads are fore-something. For instance E-bay, the online mega store have designed creative commercials to lure those still hooked on to their TV sets. Most of these creative ads are designed to generate interest in the TV viewers mind that one can find even the impossible on the Internet. That’s the reason why e-bay is generating revenues every single year since inception.

Online dating is the new rage for the new age singles and a plethora of sites now work to provide a platform to these lonely hearts. E-harmony, one of the leaders in its segment regularly advertises on TV. They usually portray real life couples or fake actors pretending to be much in love couples and this strategy has worked for them.

Thus, E-commerce is a great way of expanding your old business or opening a new one. E-commerce marketing creates a world of opportunity and helps to establish new relationships with potential customers, potential business associates and new product manufacturers all at the click of mouse.
