Online graduate education degrees come in all shapes and colors. It behooves the student to assess his/her own interests first; then to assess the strengths of the institutions from which one hopes to get a degree – whether it be statistical, special ed, etc.; and to look for an educational program which can best fulfill those goals. One should also check state licensing requirements (information on licensing requirements and approved teacher training institutions are available from local school systems and state departments of education).

Another consideration to keep in mind before determining which online institution to choose, of course, is the age group one wishes to teach. All public school teachers must be licensed to teach a specific age group, usually by the State Board of Education (it is not required in private schools, necessarily). Specific age groups are normally divided into preschool to early childhood grades; elementary grades; middle grades; and secondary. However, categories such as special subjects (i.e., music or reading) may determine the license category. Exceptions abound, one is quick to learn, depending on the area in which one wishes to teach, the subject matter, or the reciprocity agreements arranged between various states.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, one can be very optimistic about the opportunities for teachers. The percentage of teachers working over forty-five years of age in 2004 is slightly less than 50 percent; therefore, it is expected a large number of teachers will retire within the next ten years. Teacher shortages should grow, particularly in poor, urban schools. Also, enrollment in the next ten years is expected to rise, especially in the West. Being mobile and licensed in more than one subject will only add to one’s marketability. Be aware, too, that qualified teachers in such subjects as mathematics, science, bilingual education, and foreign languages will be especially scarce. Adequate numbers of qualified teachers in such fields as general elementary education, physical education and social studies education already exist and should be avoided. Teaching prospects will no doubt improve overall and it seems a very good time to consider the field as a sensible career choice, aside from just the fact that one might feel especially dedicated to the profession.

Interestingly, average 2004 yearly earning estimates compare favorably with other professions. The following are figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics which can be broken down by levels taught:

Kindergarten: $44,940

Elementary school: $46,350

Middle school: $47,170

Secondary school: $48,980

For whatever reason one aspires to be an educator, it seems entirely possible to attain ones goals fairly easily due to the technology we accept as commonplace and the burgeoning number of degree programs offered by online institutions. The marriage of education and technology makes perfect sense – both for your own education as well as the education you may one day offer students in your classroom.

When you think about your career choices, do you consider Information Technology? Do you want to know more about attending an Information Technology school? If you are seeking information on Information Technology schools, the good news is that an education in Information Technology isn’t far from your fingertips with most schools offering degree programs online. With Information Technology fast becoming one of the most rapidly growing occupations, it is no wonder why so many students are considering enrolling in an Information Technology school. Information technology is ever-changing and rapidly developing, and according to current trends, does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Information Technology schools offer majors in Business Systems Analysis, Information Systems Security, E-Commerce, Information System Management, Database Management, Network Technology, Web Application Development, Software Engineering, and Graphics and Multimedia.

Information Technology schools have never made it easier to obtain an education. Almost all Information Technology schools offer online degree programs that allow students to earn their degree from the comfort of their own home and according to their schedule. Information Technology schools are fast replacing the older version of Distance Learning Programs in which course material and assessments were sent through the postal system. Now earning a degree from an Information Technology school is as easy as point-and-click! Online degrees form Information Technology schools are rapidly becoming accepted as just as legitimate and valid as the traditional classroom-setting degrees. However, Information Technology schools have also made it more convenient then ever for the student who prefers the traditional classroom education by offering day and evening classes for the full-time working student. Information Technology schools offer education on the certification, Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and even Doctorate levels. Most Information Technology schools award certifications and Associate’s degrees in a matter of nine to eighteen months, and Bachelor’s degrees in twelve to twenty-four months for the working student.

The University of Phoenix offers Bachelor’s degree programs in Web Design and Multimedia, Information Systems, Information Technology and Visual Communication, Business Information Systems, Information Technology, and E-Commerce, placing an emphasis on the business administration of Information Technology so that students are fully prepared for the workforce after graduation. Students focus on analysis of business technology, software architecture, and the acquisition of technical theories. American InterContinental University (AIU) also offers a Bachelor’s degree program in Information Technology online that develops appropriate programming skills and educates students in data administration. Additionally, Kennedy-Western University also offers a fully-accredited Bachelor’s of Science program in Software Engineering that provides students with a comprehensive knowledge in the tools, techniques, and principles of software development and maintenance. Capella University offers Bachelor’s of Science degrees in General Information Technology and Graphics and Multimedia as well.

Business administration tops the list of ten most desirable and in-demand degrees to have. Higher starting salaries and better job advancement opportunities usually accompany an advanced degree in business administration. While traditionally the domain of young graduates, working men and women are returning to school to take advantage of the limitless opportunities afforded by accredited schools of business administration. These same men and women can best realize this potential by taking advantage of the numerous online business administration degree programs offered around the country.

Online schools of business administration are gaining competitive ground with traditional classroom programs. Company executives recognize that the online schools deliver the same educational objectives as classroom courses, while also preserving the integrity of the work force. In fact, companies proactively send employees back to the classroom and are rewarded with the return of a more educated, resourceful, and efficient employee base.

Working men and women aren’t limited to attending a school in a local or regional area. Online schools of business administration offer a limitless variety of opportunities and options all within the confines of the home, simply by connecting a computer or laptop to the Internet. While the options and pricing varies, many schools offer competitive programs at reasonable rates, a considerable value in realizing career ambitions.

Below are but two of the many options available for online business administration programs offered around the nation:

University of Phoenix Online

The University of Phoenix Online is a leader in online education. Students receive practical classroom experience delivered by experienced faculty.

Capella University – School of Business and Technology

Capella University offers concentrations in business organizational management, information technology, and human resource management in addition to standard coursework in business administration.

In an increasingly challenging business world, pursuing an online business administration degree makes financial sense, leading to greater value in the company and the business world at large.

Universities that have teaching hospitals are typically connected with nursing school and medical schools. The variety of other disciplines in the health care field do not require six years of study or a degree from a university. Online colleges as well as traditional colleges and universities have been the means through which medical technicians and other support staff, and non-medical administrative professionals have started their careers.

Trade schools and specialty institutions provide certification for individuals who are interested in careers as dental technicians, x-ray technicians, and nursing assistants. There are many courses of study available through online schools and traditional colleges for those interested in health management positions.

Health administration degrees at any post-secondary level are available through the University of Phoenix Online. There is a comprehensive list of professional opportunities provided by their online program. Phoenix offers several different nursing degrees, including Health Care Education, Integrative Health Care, Health Care Management and a dual Master’s degree in Nursing and Business Administration. They also provide a curriculum for a doctorate in Health Administration and nurse practitioner program.

Quite a few health care career options are covered by Colorado Technical University’s programs, and a majority of them are available online. The degree programs that they offer include Health Information Technology, Health care Administration, Massage Therapy, Medical Assistant, Nursing, Practical Nursing, Radiography and Surgical Technology.

Westwood College offers online degree programs in some levels of health care management, medical insurance coding and billing, and other degrees in medical assisting.

Another online college is CDI College that offers specialized programs that prepare students for the medical support field. Programs at CDI College include training for two types of medical office staff jobs, medical laboratory assistants, medical assistants and massage therapists. Certification for several different positions like orthopedic assistants, occupational therapy, childcare assistants. This school also offers nine different classifications of dental office worker programs online.

Cappella University offers about twenty degree programs in psychology, counseling, health related social work, and health care administration. Their programs concentrate on therapy and counseling. They even have a curriculum for family therapy and marriage counseling, as well as school and sports psychology.

It is obvious that trade schools and online colleges have many programs with narrow focuses. There is health care training at every type of institution, and a good number of them are available through online programs. A broad number of specialties and associate’s bachelor’s, master’s and even doctorate degrees are available online and on campuses.

Online education has become the cornerstone in distance learning. Almost half of the colleges and universities in this country offer non-traditional education programs. These come in the form of branch locations for universities, evening courses, and online classes. Information on a school’s website will most likely include the details on any online degree program that is available through that particular college or university.

If you are after professional certification, online institutions are a great place to begin. Individuals who are already working and want to improve or are looking for a career change will find that online schooling is a convenient option. Certificates are available online for Certificates for paralegals, medical assistants, dental assistants, project management and several health care specialties are offered by a number of online colleges and universities.

There seems to be more opportunities in the areas of business, education, health care and technology through online schools. All of these industries have a trend of mid-career advancement. The field of education in particular places value on continued education even long after beginning a career.

The MBA is increasing in demand in the business arena, and the master’s in business administration is available online. There are a number of specialties to choose from including accounting, marketing, global business management, finance, public administration, retail management, human resource and public administration. You can major in any of these specialties through the University of Phoenix Online at either the undergraduate or graduate level.

The number of individuals in he technology field who are pursuing continued education is increasing. Engineers are learning business skills, and business professionals are learning about technology related to their products. The curriculum offerings at many online institutions cover these needed issues well.

All three post secondary levels of degrees are offered at Warren National University, and there are several programs in the technical field that are tailored for professionals who have already joined the work force. The technical degrees offer by this school include: computer science, electrical engineering, engineering management, finance, e-business and e-commerce, and management information systems. They also have degrees in environmental, safety, mechanical and software engineering.

It is possible to earn even a doctorate degree online. There are some online schools that have courses that require field research and specialized on-site experience. These programs may coordinate with local facilities to give students the experience they need. One school, for example, has a bachelor’s in education program that connects with Arizona schools to offer student teaching experiences for aspiring educators.

Another field that may require on-site training is health care. Some online health care degree programs have hospitals on campus where training hours can be fulfilled.

Online degrees are certainly becoming mainstream, and are widely excepted in many industries.

Informatics is a new word to a lot of people. In medicine, it describes the field of information utilization. More specifically, informatics is the science of organizing, managing, analyzing and putting to use the knowledge that results from this process. Informatics is data management performed in such a fashion as to make that data more widely accessible and accordingly, more beneficial within the medical community.

Given the sensitivity to the issue of privacy for medical records, this newly defined area of endeavor is not without controversy. There is a good deal of legislative activity and debate over patient’s rights versus the value of research that can be derived from unrestrained data. In this age of electronic transfer and search engines, the proper control and use of medical data is a challenging proposition. That’s what makes informatics an intriguing health care field.

Nursing informatics is a field of its own. Several universities offer degrees in nursing informatics. There are various levels, beginning with certificate courses. Undergraduate and graduated degrees in nursing informatics are now being offered, as well as nursing degrees with a specialty in informatics. These degrees are generally found in the schools of nursing established in universities throughout the country.

The same pattern applies to medical informatics. There are graduate degrees in medical informatics available, often through medical schools. They are not, however, medical degrees but more like a masters or PhD in information technology, focused totally on medical data and its uses as well as its management. There are also certificates and undergraduate degrees in the subject; a few colleges offer informatics as a continuing education opportunity.

Aside from medical schools, you will find degrees in medical informatics offered variously by university departments of biostatistics, departments of computational sciences, departments of systems management, schools of public health and schools of computer science. One Midwestern university has a school of informatics. Evidently, this recently conceived discipline has yet to find an agreed upon niche in academia.

A few U.S. universities offer medical informatics courses online. At least two of them offer a master’s degree in informatics online. There are a handful of online schools that offer at least certification courses on the subject. There appears to be a more widespread availability of nursing informatics classes available both throughout the nation’s universities and online. Clearly, however, infomatics is still in its formative stages as an academic discipline.

Despite that fact, it must be an intriguing field of study. Consider, for example, the area of medical imaging. Scans of every type are now being read at home by practicing radiologists, the images transmitted to them over the internet. Imagine the challenge of developing a system of sharing the knowledge to be garnered from a collection of similar scans, and the difficulty of protecting patient’s rights at the same time.

If significant findings about a surgical procedure or form of treatment were to be derived from this sharing of information, how would it be disseminated? The science of informatics does, to some degree, make the tradition of medical journals somewhat pass

It has been said that ours is the information age. This can be interpreted to mean that our economy, as well as our society, is built around information. There is, undoubtedly, some truth to this notion. Computers and the Internet ruled the stock market for a period in the nineties, and the consumer market is certainly dominated by electronic products that deliver or receive information in one format or another. Computer science and information technology have become primary focal points in our higher education system, and they play a prominent role in many of the new career opportunities that are being developed today.

The advent of the Internet and the spawning of all the chip-driven, electronic devices that have become part of our social fabric are reflected in the evolving curricula found in higher education. The traditional sciences – physics, chemistry, and the mathematics that accompanies them – are increasingly focused on biotech, nanotech and info tech. Schools of engineering are devoting resources to electrical engineering which, in turn, becomes computer science and the electronics that make our computer networks function.

Technology is finding its place in our schools – as teaching devices in the lower grades, and as academic departments in higher education. Today, you can find college degrees in information technology and many spin-offs of that discipline. Networking, wireless technology, the Internet and all of its new developments and markets – all these things are part of the information technology orbit. Computer science, as an academic discipline, really includes the electronics involved on the cutting edge of new product development. This includes, not only consumer products but, the introduction of new concepts in medical and industrial fields.

Universities and colleges are devoting resources to academics in these fields. For those of us who see a new area of career opportunity and wish to go in that direction, technology is often best pursued at online colleges. People who are working and want to obtain degrees or certifications that will provide job options in technology should explore the opportunities – and efficiency – of the online educational institutions.

Schools, such as University of Phoenix Online, have an entire department devoted to technology. Working professionals, who want to apply their previously-accrued college credits to a degree in information technology, can find the following degree programs at University of Phoenix: Associate of Arts in Information Technology. Associate of Arts in Information Technology/Networking. BS in Business/Information Systems. BS in Business/e-Business. BS in Information Technology. BS in Information Technology/Information System Security. BS in Information Technology/Visual Communications. MBA/Technology Management. MIS – Master of Information Systems. Doctor of Management/Information Systems and Technology.

Kaplan University can offer you 6 associate’s degrees and 6 bachelor’s degrees with specialization in different information technology areas. Among those are: AAS in Computer Information Systems. AASCIS/Java. AASCIS/Networking. AASCIS/Programming. AASCIS/Web Development. AASCIS/Wireless Networking. BS in Information Technology. BSIT/Database. BSIT/Multimedia and Animation. BSIT/Networking. BSIT/Programming. BSIT/Web Development.

Kaplan’s associate’s programs can move you onto a new career path in less than 18 months!

Colorado Technical University has an online program with four information technology degrees at the bachelor’s level, and two technology degrees at the master’s level: B.S. in Business Administration – Information Technology. B.S. in Information Technology – Software Systems Engineering. B.S. in Information Technology – Network Management. B.S. in Information Technology – Security. M.S. in Management – Information Systems Security. M.S. in Management – Information Technology Management.

There are many areas of expertise within the field of technology that are in demand today. For further information, click on any above program of interest and fill out the information request form. The choice is yours: if you have the initiative, an online technology education is there with a career path on the other side.

Computer technology can be roughly divided into two academic areas: computer science and information technology.

Computer science is the physics, chemistry and mathematics behind chip design, computer design, and the functionality of all the pieces of hardware in the industry. Fiber optics and network router design are parts of computer science. In many universities, computer science majors are housed in the electrical engineering department, where the science began.

Information technology (IT) is often a separate field of study. The academic subdivisions of IT include: Networking. Database design. Maintenance and security. Software design. Computer programming.

Universities and colleges often offer information technology degrees with areas of concentration such as database design.

Technical schools do provide some technology certification programs in such areas as network maintenance and system security. More often, however, these operational jobs are taught at the level of an associate’s college degree.

Online colleges provide degrees in computer technology that cover both areas of study. University of Phoenix Online has a fairly inclusive bachelor’s degree program in IT. Their technology school offers the following degrees: Associate of Arts in Information Technology. Associate of Arts in Information Technology/Networking. Associate of Arts in Information Technology/Visual Communication. Bachelor of Science in Business/ e-Business. Bachelor of Science in Business/Information Systems. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology/Information System Security. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology/Visual Communications. Master of Business Administration/Technology Management. Master of Information Systems. Doctor of Management/Information Systems and Technology.

University of Phoenix wraps many of their IT majors into business degree programs. They do not offer courses in the area of computer science.

Colorado Technical University has an online program that qualifies as a computer school of its own. They offer a Bachelor of Science in Software Systems Engineering that combines electrical engineering with the integrative techniques used in computer design. It’s an interesting mix of academic focal points: Fundamentals of Computer Programming. Electrical Engineering Techniques. Database Design and Management. Software Engineering.

Another online computer school is CDI College, which provides training programs in IT that prepare students for certification. Their scholastic selections include nine networking courses of study, including one designed to meet certification for Cisco network products and designs. They have five choices in the Programmer/Developer area, two of which are focused on the Web. CDI College also has a number of certification training programs. For software, they offer courses for business applications specialist and Microsoft Office specialist. CDI teaches certification courses for computer programmers and office information technology specialists, as well.

These are three online colleges with distinctly different types of curricula. CDI can make you a certified tech in a matter of several months. Colorado Technical University has degrees available in computer science and in software development. University of Phoenix focuses on the business side of IT. These are only three examples: a little research will find you the online tech school that you need if you haven’t found it here.

There is a difference between technical schools and colleges and schools of technology. Technical schools are training centers that will prepare you for every career from auto mechanic, to food marketing, to truck driver. You may find a few technology-oriented careers available at a technical school – such as software programming – or you may not. Technology colleges and schools are either institutions that offer courses for technology-oriented jobs (i.e., computer network maintenance), or they offer full college degrees in information technology and computer science fields, or they offer both.

CDI College is an example of an online college that offers certification training. They have a technology division with nine different academic choices for certification in the field of networking. They have five academic choices in the programmer/developer area, all of which are oriented to website development and maintenance.

University of Phoenix Online offers a variety of technology degrees, ranging from an Associate of Arts in Information Technology to a Doctor of Management in Information Systems and Technology. Their bachelor’s programs include the following: BS in Business/Information Systems. BS in Business/e-Business. BS in Information Technology. BS in Information Technology/Information System Security. BS in Information Technology/Visual Communications.

University of Phoenix also offers two master’s degrees, including: MBA/Technology Management. MIS – Master of Information Systems.

Capella University offers a variety of online information technology degrees, including the following: BS in Information Technology – General. BS in IT – Graphics and Multimedia. BS in IT – Information Assurance and Security. BS in IT – Network Technology. BS in IT – Web Application Development. MBA – Information Technology Management. MS in IT – General Information Technology. MS in IT – Network Architecture and Design. MS in IT – Information Security. MS in IT – System Design and Programming.

Kaplan University has 6 online bachelor’s degree programs in the IT academic area. Specializations include: Database. Multimedia and animation. Networking. Programming. Web development.

Their associate’s degrees in the IT field are all in information systems and include specializations in Java, networking, web development, and wireless networking.

Four online technology colleges, all with different levels of degrees and academic specializations. You can find certification programs and associate’s degree programs in technology fields of study at most public community colleges. Four-year colleges and universities will also have technology studies. Many of the universities have comprehensive schools of computer science that have grown out of their electrical engineering departments.

You can find some esoteric specialties in some of the larger universities, in such areas as computer languages, database design and artificial intelligence. Those sorts of institutions are best suited for those with time and dedication to pursue full four- or five-year courses of study. If you are interested in breaking into the technology field and need a certificate or a college degree to do it – while you are working – then you should consider the online option.

These schools are accredited, well established, and one of them is going to have the degree in the academic focal area that you want. Online technology degrees also, typically, take less time. They are pragmatic courses of study, designed to get you the education you need as efficiently as possible. With every year, technology offerings grow as the industry develops more complexity and areas of specialization.

There are an extraordinary number of schools that provide education programs today in the field of technology. Generally, in the educational world, technology is loosely separated into the fields of computer science and information technology (IT).

Computer science learning programs, at the college level, grew out of the electrical engineering departments at many schools. Many universities still issue degrees in electrical engineering with a computer science specialty. But, the point is that the term “computer science” covers the science of all types of technology hardware, from routers, to fiber optic switches, to laptop screens.

Information technology programs include the study of computer data and its transmission in many forms. The Internet and its functions fall under information technology, as do computer networks and databases. Digital graphics is a form of information technology. The two terms divide an enormous body of learning into the loosely defined areas of hardware and the data that the hardware puts out.

Virtually all community colleges will have associate’s degree programs in computer science, information technology or other academic spin-offs. Traditional universities also provide majors in computer science and in information technology. You can also find a good deal of specialization and a much more direct course to a degree through an online college.

There are institutes and schools that specialize in certification courses for many of the technical support jobs that make technology systems work. CDI College is an online school with perhaps 20 different courses of study in computer networking, programming and maintenance. Everest College is a school with nine campuses and an online program that offers courses in such topics as computer information systems, advanced microcomputer applications, and applied office technology. These online schools and others like them focus on the field of certification for specific technology skill sets.

Westwood College is an online school with 2 technology bachelor’s programs: information systems security and computer network management. Their 2 associate’s degree programs in technology specialize in computer network engineering and technical management.

University of Phoenix Online has a series of bachelor’s and master’s degrees that center on IT, many combined with a concentration on business: Associate of Arts in Information Technology. Associate of Arts in IT/Networking. Associate of Arts in IT/Visual Communication. Bachelor of Science in Business/ e-Business. Bachelor of Science in Business/Information Systems. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Bachelor of Science in IT/Information System Security. Bachelor of Science in IT/Visual Communication. MBA/Technology Management. MIS – Master of Information Systems. Doctor of Management/Information Systems and Technology.

Boston University’s online affiliate Metropolitan College offers a bachelor’s in computer science and a bachelor’s in management information systems. Their master’s programs include computer science/security and computer information systems/security. Those two degrees provide a clear illustration of the split between computer science (hardware) and IT (data).

Kaplan University is another online institute with a comprehensive set of educational technology programs. They have 6 associate’s degrees and 6 bachelor’s degrees in such majors as database, web development, networking computer information systems, and wireless networking.

These are a selection of online technology institutes that provide a wide spectrum of educational opportunity. Select your field of interest, and then go shopping for a technology institute that will teach you what you need to know.

Nine times out of ten, in educational parlance, a career in technology is associated with information technology. Computer design is computer science and that can be construed as a technology career. However, the popular use of the term “information technology” in the job market has to do with the data computers turn out.

Information technology data can be any type of information: raw data, document files, images, video and audio files. Career choices may involve software development and computer programming. The field of computer networking involves interconnecting pieces of hardware, but falls into the category of an information technology career, nonetheless.

In the networking field alone, job descriptions include: Network Administrator. Network Architect. Network Engineer. Network Installer.

There are technology college degrees available in all of these fields with the possible exception of installer, in which case the education required might fall under engineering.

Databases have grown large and complex as they have become vital business tools for large corporations. Today there are careers in database administration, database design (a sector of the computer programming field), and data mining. Data mining, a function of CRM (Customer Relations Management), refers both to a class of software and a methodology of business operations, that applies the use of data to the development of more efficient and profitable business operations.

System engineers have careers in technology that give them the job of designing computer networks or, more properly, the manner in which computers relate to one another over those networks. Designing these computer networks could involve: Shared files. Shared printers. Shared uplinks. Shared software. Online teleconferencing.

For every system of any size or complexity, there is a system administrator who has the critical job of keeping the system functioning.

Careers in computer technology include jobs in the product development sector. Those positions include technical writing and quality assurance specialists, as well as project managers, to guide the development of a new product from beginning to end. Software engineers are critical to the development of new information technology products. Electrical engineers can be found throughout the hardware sector of the industry, designing chips and routers and smaller, faster components of all types.

Education for these jobs can be found at technical schools, established universities and online colleges. Many times, the online colleges have the most focused computer technology education programs because the people who seek online learning are often working people looking to make career changes.

Colorado Technical University alone has four associate’s degrees, four bachelor’s and four master’s degrees in their information technology (IT) department. A partial list of majors include: IT Security. IT Management. Software Engineering. Network Management.

While Colorado Technical University operate six campuses, nearly all of these degrees are available online.

Kaplan University offers six associate’s degrees and six bachelor’s degrees online with majors that will direct the student into a career in technology. Many accredited online schools have grown on the strength of their technology degree programs. You’ll be surprised at the number of opportunities there are in the technology field, with online degrees to match.

Careers in technology can be found at every professional level and, today, you can find courses taught for every type of job. For purposes of discussion, it helps to divide the field of technology into two roughly drawn areas: computer science and information technology.

Computer science is the study of technology’s hardware: what the component parts are, how the parts are built, and how the parts work. This can apply as much to a network router as it applies to a computer. Information technology deals with the use of the computer’s output: digital data in an assortment of formats. Thus, information technology (IT) includes the functions of the Internet, computer networks, software design, database security, and so forth.

Colleges and universities have developed curricula for many subdivisions of these two broad areas. Degree levels ranging from an associate’s to a doctorate can be found for computer science, information technology and related fields of study. About 40% of America’s colleges and universities offer some form of extension learning or online education program, and there are many colleges that function solely online as well. So, availability for technology schools is widespread – local community colleges, universities, or online schools all have technology programs.

There are courses of study for jobs in technology that do not lead a college diploma. 9- to 18-month programs that result in certification for the student can be found in areas such as network maintenance, office software, computer maintenance and other technical support positions. Examples of these types of certificates can be found at CDI College: CISCO Certified Network Administrator. Network Administrator. Network and Internet Security Specialist. Network and Internet Support Specialist. Network Support Specialist. Programmer/Network Support Analyst. Computer Programmer/Web Developer. Programmer Analyst/Internet Solutions Developer. Programmer Analyst/Web Developer. Computer Business Applications Specialist. Computer Programmer.

While CDI focuses on certification programs, Capella University is an online college at the other end of the educational spectrum, offering four master of science degree programs in information technology: MS in IT – General Information Technology. MS in IT – Information Security. MS in IT – Network Architecture and Design. MS in IT – System Design and Programming.

Kaplan University fills in the middle ground with 6 associate’s degrees and 6 bachelor’s degrees in information technology. Among their fields of specialization are the following: AAS in Computer Information Systems. AASCIS/Java. AASCIS/Networking. AASCIS/Programming. AASCIS/Wireless Networking. BS in Information Technology. BSIT/Database. BSIT/Multimedia and Animation. BSIT/Networking. BSIT/Programming. BSIT/Web Development.

Generally, online technology degrees will take less time to complete than those offered at a traditional university or college. If you have college credits from previous experience, some of them may be transferable. An associate’s degree can take as little as 13 months and, a bachelor’s, 2 to 3 years.

The range of educational options and professional opportunities is wide and getting wider all the time. Credentialing programs are becoming very specific, with online training programs available in certain computer languages or code writing. College degrees are also being developed that focus on an increasing number of specialties, such as microelectronics and fiber optic networking. There is an option to match almost any level of initiative and area of interest.

For educational purposes, it is often convenient to separate the computer technology field into two areas: computer science and information technology. The reason for this is simply that the educational institutions seem to have made this division in their academic designs for courses of study.

Academically, computer science seems to have sprung from many schools’ electrical engineering departments. In some cases, the computer sciences remain there and a school may offer a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with specialization in computer science. Other universities – and online colleges – have dedicated entire departments and/or separate courses of study to computer science.

The field of information technology (IT) has developed as data generated by computers has become essential in the everyday economic functions of this country and most others. Information technology pervades our everyday lives. The Internet is a manifestation of information technology; as is the ATM machine, e-mail, the automated gas pump at the filling station, and the timed stoplights on our boulevards. Electronically transmitted data has become an essential social reality.

Getting an education in these fields and seeking a related career is a good bet on the future. Degrees in computer science and in information technology are available at every degree level, from associate to doctorate.

There are also degrees in associated fields, such as networking (for IT) and microelectronics (for computers). Traditional colleges and universities all have academic resources committed to these fields of study. However, as the traditional college experience has become costly and remains time-consuming, increasing numbers of people are turning to online education as a practical alternative.

Accredited online colleges have become a resource for people wishing to switch careers or to climb the ladder in their current profession. For young people who must work to support themselves, online education has also become an alternative.

The University of Phoenix Online orients its technology courses through its school of business. As an example of what is available to the would- be student, here are the technology degrees offered by University of Phoenix Online: BS in Business/e-Business. BS in Business/Information Systems. BS in Information Technology. BS in Information Technology/Information System Security. BS in Information Technology/Visual Communications. MBA/Technology Management. MIS – Master of Information Systems. Doctor of Management/Information Systems and Technology.

There are also IT degrees available from Kaplan University at both the associate’s and bachelor’s level. Their two-year associate’s programs include degrees in the following areas: AAS in Computer Information Systems. AASCIS/Java. AASCIS/Networking. AASCIS/Programming. AASCIS/Web Development.

Kaplan’s Bachelor Information Technology program includes: BS in Information Technology. BSIT/Database. BSIT/Multimedia and Animation. BSIT/Networking. BSIT/Programming. BSIT/Web Development.

These are only two of the many online opportunities out there for you to begin exploring your degree in information technology. These degrees can be achieved in less time than is required at a traditional university. It’s an investment in your future that is worth looking into.

These degrees cater to various jobs in the IT industry. This shows the range of jobs and degrees that are found in the technology world today. In Information technology, networking is an entirely different field totally separate from programming and software yet plays a very integral part in both. Web development is another field which is so big that it could he made into a totally separate subject. Java is just one aspect of Internet and animation courses. Database management and database security though appears similar are two different fields altogether. For those interested technology offers a vast spectrum of opportunities in earning a degree or a livelihood.

West wood college online offers a variety of degrees. They are associate’s degree in computer networking and a Bachelor’s degree in computer network Management. One can earn the first degree to enter into the field of technology and later with some experience can go for the updated Bachelor’s program.

The term Information technology covers an ever-widening group of businesses and services that are associated with consumer technology. There are enterprises which are run by a single person that cater to the computer and software support and maintenance needs of the family computer market. These single enterprises are an important market segment, especially for people whose computers show problems and can’t be taken to a service center.

These are small networking enterprises offer their networking services to the offices, interconnecting the work stations at every employee’s desk. A networked office is a very important in today’s work culture. This has happened because internet and email has become the main agent for communication. And instead of providing each terminal with internet connections it is more cost friendly to connect them with interoffice network and then give this network a common internet access. This network of computers now no longer need to have separate printers, scanners and other paraphernalia as these could be shared via the same network. The storage space of such an office also increases drastically as all the office files can now be stored at one server and can be accessed by all without any problem.

The major networking companies have developed their own hardwire systems to offer proprietary service for large and multinational conglomerates. Some companies have also created networks in urban centers; here they can acquire large business clients for networking and internet services. These major networking companies leave the consumer market to the large ISPs, like Earthlink or AOL, and give attention to business services.

Next, there is a great scope in the software market. Organizations such as Oracle, Peoplesoft, and Siebel, have earned billions of dollars selling industry and commerce related software to mega corporations. Classy database systems from these software organizations and other similar ones provide businesses with the latest customer service management software. This is so designed as to create the best possible relationship with a business client and also maximize sales. Other software packages such as Accounting and business tracking software packages satisfy other important purposes in the corporate software world.

The above mentioned are a few examples of the kinds of organizations that have succeeded in the world of information technology. Making a career with an organization of information technology needs knowing the product they are offering, their marketplace and their competitors. Technical knowhow for some of these careers can be located through online training centers and colleges.

An online training course offers certificates in various areas of IT industry. About nine online training programs are offered by the CDI College. These certificates focus on different specializations in the networking trade. Their program/developer division of CDI College has five courses of study focused on programming, especially for the web. You can earn a certification in any or all of these fields.

A course in computer information systems and automated office technology is offered by Everest College. A technician certificate can be earned after the completion of a 9- to 18-month training program.

Other schools such as Kaplan University, have courses for a variety of associate’s degrees in information technology. They also have IT bachelor’s degrees. The syllabus of Kaplan’s programs include: BSIT/Database, BSIT/Multimedia and Animation, BSIT/Networking, BSIT/Programming, BSIT/Web development.

If you have the inclination for a career as a technician or as a expert in the IT industry, visit the job listings for the industry and see the educational requirements for the various positions. Especially the jobs which require a certification in IT, the requirement are regarding very specific certificates needed for some positions. Once you know the requirements you can concentrate on those particular courses which are very high in demand. Earn your certificates and prepare yourself for an exciting career.

You thrive on human interaction and most people think that you are a people’s person. You like meeting with different individuals, understanding what makes them tick and you want everyone to reach their optimum potential. You’re most often the bridge between the top managers and their subordinates and solving a critical scenario gives you a high. If you have answered ‘Yes’ to most of these questions then a career in Human resources is probably your calling. This department allows you to deal exclusively with people from across the organization and through your work help capitalize human potential for the success of any organization.

Human Resource Management is the function within an organization that focuses on recruitment of, management of, and providing direction to the employees and it is your job as an HR professional to bring people and the organization together. In order to do this you would be actively engaged in employee relations which deals with motivating employees and to ensure their wellbeing by addressing their concerns. You could also be involved in end to end recruitments so that you can align the correct manpower resource to the manpower need in the organization and this would entail conducting interviews and conducting joining formalities. As an HR generalist you will be involved in the entire gamut of HR functions such as compensation, hiring, performance management, organization development, safety, wellness, benefits, employee motivation, communication, administration, and training. Alternatively one can become an HR Specialists and operate in specific areas of the HR profession that require a specific skill and knowledge set and will generally concentrate on these areas full time, the key examples of which are: Training & Development Compensation & Benefits and Recruitment

The personality traits of those in Human resources is unique and most need to have the ability to handle a crisis in a smooth, discreet manner and, be a good judge of character.

Although a college education is a pre-requisite, a degree in Human Resources is not essential but beneficial, however someone who has majored in Business Administration, Psychology, Labor Relations and Personnel Administration, as well as degrees in Social and Behavioral Sciences, is suitable for this role.

Effective communication skills is the most important requirement from an HR professional and the ability to communicate through words, either verbal or written and actions can benefit or harm the organization. Natural empathy helps deal with many official matters and lack of such traits by the HR department has had many organizations being sued for wrongful HR practices. Therefore, the Human Resource Department is the backbone of any organization.

As they say practical training cannot compensate for all the theoretical knowledge and as an Human resource professional gaining experience at the entry level, through internship programs helps you gain first hand information and expertise of this field. Most Community colleges and university extension programs give credits and certify the completion of the Human Resources Training program.

Therefore if you have a natural empathy for people, are a great communicator and love people then embark on a great Human Resources career by taking the right steps in that direction.

You may have a specialization in business at an undergraduate level or you had pursued liberal arts degree. A degree in business administration is not a waste of time.

Why? Because there is always a demand for MBA degree holders. All business at one point or other need professional help and they prefer to have a professional around. Starting from open air markets to the latest modern day shopping malls, a movie theatre to the multiplex cinemas, trade and commerce is as old as human beings themselves. Opportunities in other fields come and go, but opportunities for an MBA degree holder is always there.

In the metros, small businesses and medium size businesses open and close constantly. It is the accounting and marketing strategy of an organization which keeps it open and expanding. If you have your own business, it means you have to work harder to keep it alive and growing. You need to possess more marketing and promotion know-how, a keen interest and in-depth knowledge of accounting, and shrewd business acumen.

If you don’t have an interest in owning a business, you can still be an advisor, a consultant, a manager with an organization. Business degrees help the creative individuals and offer them an opportunity to succeed in the American commercial world. Earning a “master” degree in business management and administration has positive results.

Earning an MBA degree is not an easy task. You will require a lot of time, dedication, and funds. If you have the above mentioned traits and are committed to upgrading yourself in every aspect of life, it is a course which leads to very rewarding career.

An MBA is an excellent option. It is also an exceptionally popular course for various schools to incorporate in their various alternative learning programs such as Distance learning, Telecommuting, Online education and Part-time programs.

Almost all universities, whether campus-based or online, have appreciated the need and the consequent demand for MBA courses.

There are limitless opportunities in the field of education, and with a MBA added to your resume, will increase your chances dramatically to break into American corporate world.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the most cherished industries presently and during the next decade are employment services, health care, and consulting. Although these jobs may appear different they have one aspect that is common to all. All these professionals need an accounting professional.

There is endless job potential for accounting professionals. An accountant can work in public accounting firms, government, or even large companies. An accountant may prefer to be on his own and can become an independent Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Other few responsibilities of an accounting professional are to carry out audits, formulate budgets, make financial statements and manage expenditure.

All or any of the above mentioned could be an accounting professional’s daily job.

This field is rapidly growing. Accounting-related employment for individuals with a bachelor’s degree in accounting is predicted to increase by approximately 20% by the next few years. Converting statistics to figures, it means that over 200,000 new accountants will be required to meet the demand by the year 2012.

The route to the degree is a long one, and need lot of on campus time, lot of classes to attend, pushing pencil and paper, and listening to a lecture, right?

Wrong! Latest accounting classes are so nice you can attend them anywhere, classes at home, at a cafe; on the beach anywhere you find an internet connection. These on line programs let you finish your studies anywhere you feel comfortable.

There are a number of online programs. They are very convenient to do also. This program is offered by many schools, and the student has a wide variety of options also. There are degree levels courses offered by some universities, such as: University of Phoenix Online (Associate of Arts in Accounting), Capella University (Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business – Accounting), Colorado Technical University (Master of Business Administration (MBA) – Accounting).

All levels of accounting programs can be found online, Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s.

Coming to the main point: Salary Projections

An accounting degree can be very beneficial. According to HotJobs.com the remuneration for an average entry-level accountant is $39,000. Armed with higher levels of accounting degrees the salaries may reach the $70,000 range. Based on the type of industry and experience, accounting professionals can earn easily up to six figures.

How to find an Accredited Online Accounting Degree course

There are many search tools available on the web. College-Pages.com, the leading education and career resource website, maintains a list of top accounting colleges and online degree courses. To obtain the details, fill a brief information request form for an on-campus or online accounting school.

Next confirm if the school or university is accredited. Go to the school’s website and search for “accreditation.” You can even call the school’s admissions department and enquire about the accreditation and the name of their accreditation body. You may even search for the name of the school at the United States Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education Web site.

What is “accreditation,” what is its importance? An accredited school is on which adheres to the required educational quality and operations, the school is also appraised frequently to ascertain it. This means that, graduating from an accredited online degree course enhances the reliability of the student in the job market.

Finally, ask others about the prospective school. Better still take a virtual tour. Talk to the ex-students. Find out regarding the availability of financial aid and the procedure of its application.

Now you can go forward and enroll. Study hard and believe in yourself. Achieve your dreams and secure your future.
